Cheerleaders are cool. They do get around too. At last week's football game one of them did the splits and five class rings fell out.

What is it with people having problems searching the forum for answers? Am I the only one that remembers getting answers from the library after looking them up in the card catalog? The internet already makes things sooooo easy to find, and people still ***** and moan about having to STFF. Oh and I'm 23 so don't pull any "old man" crap on me...
But in regards to the retrofit of the Command: I've been trying to find a way to justify spending close to $1500 for all this, when my Garmin does the trick just as well. Sure, its not integrated, but then again, I hardly use my GPS... The 05+ Command does look sick though...

That's how I am seeing it...these things look the same! Like when I plugged in the digital climate controller to where my dial unit was...It worked - BUT I was able to really dig into the part numbers, the date of built and what PN was needed for my VIN...The COMAND stuff seems more "Guearded" if you will and getting a Part Numer is hard, let a lone a build date and what should go into what VIN...This is what I DO KNOW...
MOST is Media Oriented System Transport, it is an evolution of the fiber optic ring and electrical wake-up configuration used in the D2B system. One of the vehicle communication networks; connecting the audio system to other vehicle networks. MOST may also be referred to as NTG1 (New Telematics Gen 1)
MOST was introduced in the beginning of the E-Klasse (w211) and our w203 was introduced with MOST in Late April Early May of Model Year 2004.
Passive Fiber Optic Connector for testing purposes - A000-545-44-84
BUS Master is Audio 20 (HU) (Most entry class) or Audio Gateway (AGW) (Audio 50, COMAND, MCSII)
BUS Mater stores the ring configuration! Issues a 'Ring Start' optical message maintains 'Ring Lock' and switches off the ring.
In order for the ring to function properly, the master MUST know the NUMBER of components on the ring and the ORDER of those components with respect to the master. Improper version coding and / or incorrect sequencing of the components may result in intermittent and / or abnormal operation of the ring.
NTG 2
Audio units that are NTG 2 currently are the Audio 20 and MCSII units installed in MY2005 C Class (w203)
- Main diffrence as compared to NTG 1 is that the Head Unit (HU) and the Audio Gate Way (AGW) are contained within ONE UNIT! The HU and AGW communicate over a 'Most' node within the unit.
*If the MOST specified configuration is not coded for ANY components on teh MOST ring ten the ring will not be active.
**Always ensure the specified configuration is correct for the vehicle options.
Thanks all,
Jake

I have a Comand unit on it's way. The donor vehicle had the HK sound system (external amp on the fiber ring). My vehicle uses the internal amp. I was told I would need version coding because the Comand unit won't boot if it doesn't see the amp as it expects. I hope you're right!!
Thanks,
