It is possible, but the units on FleaBay are usually not for MY2005+ W203 cars.

There are many Euro models available, but they do not tune radio stations in the US. Installation will require purchase of the GPS antenna, and version coding by a dealer. There are several models for other Mercedes cars that look similar, but will not fit, and will not send directions to the MFD. One of our forum sponsors can get you the whole package and it will work in your car. You cannot do better anywhere.

It's true that eBay has a lot of older models, models for the wrong vehicle, stolen models, etc. But you absolutely can find the correct one legitimately! Just ask the seller for the part number off it. I've seen the correct US MCSII Comand unit sell on ebay anywhere from $400 to $2300.

You only need the unit and antenna which can be mounted in the same area as the unit or preferably behind the gauge cluster. Antennas are also available on eBay, but if you want the real deal MB antenna best bet is the dealer. I don't think its necessary.

After you buy and install those two parts, you may or may not need to have the unit programmed at the dealer. You absolutely must have the gauge cluster programmed if you want directions to show up there as they are meant to along with the comand screen.

eBay is by far the best deal, you will save a ton of money if you wait for the right auction. But as always there is that chance of being screwed with eBay.
I should have just told you to search the forum!

Also FWIW the euro versions will tune *most* FM stations fine in the US. Plenty of AM stations will probably be missing but you'll get some.
But for this reason I wouldn't get the Euro Comand unit.

Mercedes calls their GPS-capable head units "Comand". Its often misspelled "Command". You might want to try searching this forum a bit, as this has been dicussed to death already and all the information you could possibly need is already here.

I was also born knowing everything. My crystal ball says that you, my friend, are stupid. Someone gives you the answer and you complain you have to look for an answer? Don't waste everyone's time because you don't want to waste your own.

Serious question, im not trying to be an *** - How can you say "plug and play" when the unit might need to be version coded for the new vehicle before it will even boot up?

2005-2007 are plug and play after you make necessary change to the connector pins behind the unit. all you need to activate is the NAV selection for MFD so you can see the NAV route directions on the MFD.

Take a look at that pretty little word right underneath your user name on each of your posts. See what it says? "Newbie". You haven't been on the forum long, so I'll let you know right now, that the more senior users on this forum do not like spoon feeding newbies. There is a ton of very useful information on this forum and it is not hard to find.

I've seen countless newbies like you come on here, diss some of the most senior users, and they usually end up getting banned within a day or two for it. Its tough to say where you stand right now but you're on thin ice, thats for sure. At this point your best course of action is to apologize and/or ignore this topic, lay low a while, then try again later. If you keep up the flaming its you thats done.

I have a Comand unit on it's way. The donor vehicle had the HK sound system (external amp on the fiber ring). My vehicle uses the internal amp. I was told I would need version coding because the Comand unit won't boot if it doesn't see the amp as it expects. I hope you're right!!

hmm...if you don't have the HK system that may be a problem for you.

Hey man - Give everyone a break. I was a newbie once not so long ago. Messed up on my 3rd post, answered an old thread & stupidly got angry with members who called me - guess I was embarrased at being an a---hole but I regret my action - BUT, that said , I had been reading the forum in the background for 12 months prior to my first post. Just about everything you wan't to know is there/here. I've only ever started 2 threads asking questions - both difficult & both still unanswered/or negative answer, although good members kindly scratched their heads for me. Every other question I've had has been answered very quickly by using the "Search" function.
