does anybody here have more than 100000 miles on their car that has never encountered a leaking cam sensor ever? just wondering. cuz i'm already at 82000 miles on the car and not experience a leaking cam sensor. i just dont know. maybe it is leaking or maybe its not. just dont where to look. and yes, my 05 c230 is a daily driver, and have a lot of miles. i do drive alot. i also love this car. just wanted to know what would be the symptoms of a leaking cam sensor.

Mine was replaced by the dealer without my knowledge around 85K.
Even if it's not leaking you should invest in the connector extention piece to prevent oil from going into the harness.
Cheap insurance.
Wasn't the cam sensor upgraded, and thats why people replace them?
Maybe yours has the updated parts.

I cant comment on being over 100k I am at 50k and replaced mine. You check by removing the connectors and they should be dry, if they are oily or have oil you have the problem.
There really are not symptoms before hand, supposedly it either runs and nothing goes wrong or it leaks so much that it travels through all the wires and electrical and the car goes crazy reporting everything and anything is wrong, when in fact its just oil contaminating all the electrical components that are suppose to warn of impending doom.
I have not experienced the second part and hope not too but if I understand it right thats how it can go.

Regrattably you don't - Benz say that they have tightened up QC with their OE supplier. No change in part number to my knowledge - just like the castor bushes - I don't know whether to believe them
