chip vs pulley for 2002 C230K

can someone enlighten me or share with us your idea on chip vs pulley upgrade for 2002.

i was told before that chip tuning on the 230 kompressor will not increase much hp if only air/fuel ratio, timing, etc is optimized as supercharger boost level is controlled by the ratio of the driving pulley. the rumor was that 2002 is different that they have a electronic controlled "wastegate" or "bleed valve" kind of thing like in the turbo to hold boost. I wonder if a chip can do that in the kompressor engine or actually can increase boost across the whole range. so I doubt if the chip does is only holding the boost instead of increase it? so I have to wait for Mark to post his dyno to show that his torque increase is indeed across the whole range.

pulley upgrade of course is proven to increase at least 30-40hp and 40 tq. the bad thing is it's more visible to the dealers to void your warranty and its more costly.

Yeah, Mark seems really happy with his, doesn't he?

If he can prove his numbers, that will sure be a cheap way to get 30hp. I was talking to someone from from Renntech about Upsolute yesterday; he still doesn't believe that such an improvement is possible. I'm going to the chip event next Sat (26th), so I'm really hoping to get some dyno reprints or something to verify their claims.

NOTE: I am not saying that it's not possible, or that any one way is better than the next, but I'd really like to see posted results from an independent source (maybe Arthur Andersen? - good thing I'm not an employee there anymore!).

Awaiting a new arrival...
I drove a C230K with the Renntech pulley and exhaust today and all I can say is OH MY GAWD! Such a difference over stock, it isn't funny!

you lucky dog! i guess you were finally able to hook up w/ renncpe?

as for the chip, i'm reassured by Mark Cummins' qualifications as an MB/porsche technician (right Mark?). at the same time, i'm not a burn down the road type of driver - in fact, i've been compared to some grandmothers - but $300 bucks + install is a very cheap upgrade. i spent $50 on mats, and i don't know how much on Zaino...

btw, the grandmother's thing... let me explain. when i drive w/ someone else, i tend to be more considerate and do not want them to be uncomfortable/worried. so their impressions are accurate but only when i drive w/ them. really.

Talking

Yup, I am still grinning ear to ear from the test drive and hospitality Randy showed me @ Brumos. I liked the experience enough that I am going to cancel my existing C230 order and re-order a similar car (with some Renntech add-ons) through him.

The C230 with lowering springs amd C7 handles like a dream, very flat and neutral.
