2002 C240 & Crossfire SRT6

I am new to this site and maybe someone has already been through this problem: My Homelink stopped working after being intermittent for the last year - the dealer said I needed a new rear view mirror at around $1000. I have a new assembly on the way (from Ebay) - does anyone have any pointers on how to remove the old one? I thought it would be nice to have an understanding before trying damage something that is not being replaced.

Thanks for the information - it looks like it will apply to my 2002. Looks like the only addition for 2005 is the amber light.
