Certain CDs break Comands ability to read CD text?!!?

Certain CDs break Comands ability to read CD text?!!?
This is the kind of MB stupidity that really annoys me.
With certain burnt CDs of mine, the Comand unit refuses to read any of the CD text. Fair enough.
The problem is when I remove such a CD its OVER Comand refuses to read ANY CD TEXT EVER AGAIN. Even if I go into diagnostic mode and do a reset.
The only way to fix it is to put in the software CD and reflash the Comand unit!!!
Does anyone know another less risky method for fixing this issue?
