Air Vent - Is This True?

Is it true the the centre air vents (the ones directly above the HU, not the big *** dashboard vent) only pumps out cold air even though you have the heat on?

The service rep told me that all Mercedes-Benz cars are like that. He said heat doesn't pump out from the centre vents. I want to make sure this is correct.

Heat comes from the center vents on my car. Unless I turn the blue wheel; then it's cold.

on the '02 models you have the blue wheel so that you can adjust temp of those vents on top of the overall temp (example you want 75F heat going to feet and sides but you dont want hot air blowing in your face so you can adjust the blue wheel so that cool air comes out (or turn blue wheel all the way down to turn off cool air). In '03 models (later 03) the blue wheel is no longer there so you get same temp from all vents.

Yes I have a 2002 model. I noticed that only cold air comes out of the centre vents, that's why I called the service rep to make an appointment to fix it. He said ONLY cold air comes out of the centre vent.

That's why I thought it's strange. I have the blue dial but I always have it turned up. I will turn it down and see if this affects the temperature of the air coming out of the vents.

I noticed at first it only blows out cold air... with the blue dial up, but after a little while heat starts to come out of it....

When i put the blue dial down, heat comes out faster... I think the blue dial is for mixing the outside air with the air that comes out of the vents....

I just called a different service rep and he told me the same thing. He says, "On certain MB's only cold air comes out of the centre vents even though you turn up the heat." I told him that I've owned the car for 8 months now and the centre vents always pumped out heat when I had the heat on until last week when only cold air came out.

He said he'll add this to the work order scheduled for next week. On top of that, my CD Changer stopped working and the HU gives me a MAGAZINE EMPTY message. WTF man?? The car is only 8 months old and the changer's screwed already! Talk about reliability man!

This is absolutely correct. Use your center wheel to control the temp.
