ESP recall and other issues C240 - 2002
Just a quick note: I was at the dealer getting my right speaker cover fixed (luckily under warranty) $40 CDN and there was a recall on the ESP. I pulled out the work order and here are the notes on it:
- Perform Recall Campaign Number 02-0303
o Washer 1 000125-006421
o Insulating hose 1 004-546-84-30
My dam trunk (boot) gets frozen now and then, so they got that issue fixed - Greased it up! - This is what happens when you live in Canada. Also I got my, fuel gauge sensors changed – they failed on me! No charge – under warranty.
I was at the dealership and found out the cost of the C320 Coupe $39000 CDN – that’s what the fellow showed me on the piece of paper and I am very impresses that that Proximity-Controlled Cruising is going to be offered on the C-class – WOW, late fall 2003! That is wicked news
Also, I have had the 3M protective coating put on the front of my car to protect it from stone chips and its GREAT! No clouding at all! I would recommend it to anyone! –DO NOT go in for those bras. It makes the car look awful and like most things, you need 365 days in a year protection rather then just winters… I had it on my other E for 5 years...

It's not a recall, but rather a campaign. A campaign is just something that needs to be done the next time the car is brought in for service. A recall involves sending out a letter to all owners telling them to bring their car in. A campaign isn't urgent, just "at your convenience". This particular ESP campaign involves moisture in the wire harness between the ESP hydraulic unit and the ground on the left front inner fender. I've only done one of these campaigns, and found no moisture. You unplug the connector at the hydraulic ESP unit, unbolt the ground wire, and blow compressed air though the harness to remove any moisture, look for corrosion, and rewrap the ground point with heat-shrink.

Fuel gauge stopped working
Hi I have just bought a 2002 c240 and since having it only a week the fuel gauge drops to empty when I have just put gas in it. anybody else having these problems. also I have noticed that it idles rough lately. please send comments
