At 60,000 miles on my V6. When is it time for a Timing chain job?

I've read on here that the lifetime timing chain isn't so much a lifetime part.

When should I start considering this job? I 've see the threads and DIYs but haven't seen a good mileage estimate as to when the job needs to be completed.

Thank you gentleman!

I'm almost certain it's supposed to be at 90-100k miles. I hope, anyways, because mine is at 66k miles.

It is, if you have a single chain which the M271 engine does. A v-6 could be a double chain, if so, you don't need to replace the chain.

The M272 V6 has a duplex chain that will last the life of the engine as long as you don't have one of the early units with the sintered sprocket problem on the balance shaft. M112 V6 engines never need timing chains either.

In other words, I was right.

Yes but you did not know whether the the V engines had duplex chains. Stop trying to be a smart ****. We all help one another here. Your comment adds no value. Mine is definitive.

Good to know! I was thinking about this the other day.
