I deided not to long ago that with my black car a black grille would look great, and after seeing some pics of it done i finally had mine done the other day. I just took these pics about a half hour ago. I think it looks good, but then again i understand if its not peoples taste.

I had a body shop paint it for me, and yes they did use a clear coat, it feels just as smooth as the rest of the car.

BlackC230Coupe, looks great, I'll have to ask my local body shop if they'll do it. Do you know if they had to do something to the chrome to make the paint stick? Also, did they do anything special to the paint to make it more chip resistant?

Hey, I just ordered my Obsidian coupe and I was wondering if it would be possible to get my grille painted? What do I do with the metallic paint, buy it from MB or ...?

Buellwinkle in my case the guy in the body shop told me that he had to used like a special primer for the chrome to make it more resistant so it won't chip easily

i would do the same thing to the grille for my black coupe, except i would leave the chrome strips at the top and bottom- if someone could photeshop this on blackc230's car i would appreciate it. thanks

Buell, if you go with painting the oem grill (and not Mark's grill), you can just order the grill-only portion of the front-end Stongard kit, if you want. It wouldn't cost much, and would be really easy to apply, as it'd be off the car anyway.

The grill does look great! I'm prob. going to get Mark's grill at some point, and get it painted black.

i was thinkin of painting mine... but i have black shiny vinyl tape on instead.... this is a good idea for those who leased
at first i did of the silver part ( left the chrome)...
then i did the whole grille....
same effect (except it was free).... but painted looks better

maybe when i paint my wing i'll do the grille too??...
i like the fact that i could just peel off and be stock though...

anyone know how much a new grille costs??
