DIY: M271 Throttle Body Cleaning/Getting to and Replacing your TB
I also found oil in the throttle body and cleaned it up. I have a sneaky feeling that this is from the vacuum hose recall that happened in 2004 or 2005.
I'm going to call the dealership tomorrow since I got this car used, and see if they did the recall for the vacuum hoses. That could be spitting oil.
If you want to do the same, the recall code is:
2008020002
I also accidentally pulled the foam coil from the front air intake, which seemed to unravel a little. Does anyone use a more reliable hose for this??
Thanks
Throttle Housing Gasket - Throttle Housing to Intake Manifold
I had originally tried to source it at the dealer but they gave me a flat fiber gasket as shown in the parts drawing item#5 p/n: 271 141 12 80
it wasn't until I pulled the throttle body off that I realized I was duped
I need to mention that it was not needed at all to remove the 2 torx screws that are down below. The hose was flexible enough.
Now, I have plans to remove and clean the other TB that is located on the supercharger (that regulates the boost by directing the air through the SC or directly to the intake manifold). You can see it on onehighfocus's pics as #4. Also I think I will need that flat gasket that he mentioned, #5. It seems that I will not need to remove the whole SC but just the part #3.
Does any one know how to deal with it? Or is it worth cleaning?

No.
No idling issues after cleaning. Everthing worked as usual.
I did the same on my previous car, slk200k with M111 engine. Also there was no issues about idle relearn on that.

Any suggestions?

Please use this at your own risk.
First, make sure the car is off and the key is not in the ignition.
Locate your airbox and disconnect the piping and move it to the side so that you can get access to the throttle body.
There are two tabs circled in this picture. Use a flat head screwdriver to push down on the tabs (see the arrows) and slide it forward towards the bumper of the car. Keep in mind, there is a tab on the bottom, so once you have loosened the tabs, move it forward and up to the left.

From here, you'll see the tube that connects the intercooler to the throttle body. The throttle body is connected to the tube by a hose clamp (circled) and a bracket that is mounted by two screws (circled).

The hose clamp is easily removed by using a flat headed screwdriver.
You then need to remove the two screws below:

Then, pull the hose off of the throttle body by pulling the hose forward towards the bumper of the car and to the right. This is what it should look like when you've done the aforementioned.

Now, that's one dirty throttle body!

We cleaned it off with paper towels and q-tips and a couple light sprays of throttle body/air intake cleaner:

This is what it looks like when it's clean

To put it back together, follow these steps.
Push the hose back into the TB;
Line up the bracket and put the screws back on;
Tighten the hose clamp;
Put back the airbox piping--you must first secure the bottom tab into the airbox, then put the top tabs in place.
Done!
Hope this helps.
Thanks so much to Splinter for helping me do this (he basically did 99% of it). Thanks for your hospitality and welcoming me to your beautiful home.
