New to the board...

figured I'm introduce myself.

Just picked up an '06 C230 last weekend. CPO and only 16k miles.

nice to see another retrofiter on the board. I have a pair of fx35 projectors just begging for a new home as soon as the wallet recovers a bit from the downpayment on the new car. I have a set of shrouds from an M35 that may have to be used as well if I'm feeling creative.

oh nice...yeah my friend just got some fx projectors with replica tsx clear lens. I was pretty impressed with the cut off..much shaper then my tsx's.

I'll definately be interested if you plan on retrofiting your c230. Most people just get lazy and just buy the oem bixenons for $1600 when they can have a better output projector retrofitted for $600 or less.

I've done many retrofits in the past on other cars... the porsche hasn't gotten one yet because of the sheer amount of fabrication required. I'd basically have to fabricate a whole new headlight, lens and all. I could do it, but I no longer have easy access to a vacuum form table, making the lens making much more difficult. With so many aftermarket projector headlights readily available for the c, it should be a very simple project.

This was my first retro

Did a similar one for a buddy in the uk

I did a retro using FX projectors on my roommate's jeep wrangler. Don't have any pictures of that one though.

I think the M bezels would look great if wired up as a driving light.

very nice...only thing i dont like about the aftermarket head lights for the w203 are the oem glare lines they come with. It definately kills a lot of the brightness and color. Even when i sanded it off, it still wasn't as bright as my ex-gf's tsx retro i did for her with the stock clear head light.

here's some quick pics of my ex gf tsx retro i did on her rsx.

Looks good. Never been super crazy about the blacked out retros. Probably because a lot of people seem to use them to hide a less than stellar job of doing the retro. Keeping the chrome reflectors and such shows everything, so if you don't do it right, it's obvious.

The lack of color using the aftermarket lenses doesn't really bother me. I've done retros in the past that were color modded, and while it's neat to have, it's not all that important to me.

i did her's on aftermarket head lights so she can keep her stockies, in case she wants to trade in her car later.

Be sure to keep us informed once you start your retro on your c230.

so what are your future planned mods for the c230?

Will do... I really shouldn't be spending the money on it any time soon, but we'll see how much self restraint I have. I do a lot of night driving, and the lights are just begging to be done.

Has anyone ever put a high beam projector in place of the high beam reflector on a c? a la crossfire lights

I've got three pairs of mdx halogen projectors just sitting around. Removing the shield from them makes for a pretty decent high beam projector, especially when used with a bixenon projector. Perhaps I'll have to mess around with the fitment to see if it works.

Was very happy with them. Initially did some shopping at Fletcher Jones down in Fremont as it's around the corner from me. The experience at MB of SF was 100 times better.

WOW, That looks like the same engine I have on my C350. Is that how the 230 engines look like as well?

06 and 07 C230's get the V6 instead of the supercharged 4. Engine may look the same, but sadly isn't.

I thought the supercharged 4 was the better pick, but in retrospect I really wish I'd gotten an 06 instead of an 05. I have no "Kompressor" badging on my 05, so visually... lol

I quite like it. I've heard complaints from a few people on it, but it's always served me well.

lilbenz... the supercharged 4 may be a better choice for making power and such, but honestly I bought the car as a daily driver. Wanted something reliable that gets good gas mileage. Was better to get a newer car with less miles, and I've heard the v6 model is more reliable than the 4

I was just saying I wish I'd gotten an 06 myself. The four-cylinder is a bit lacking in the refinement department.
