Steering issue C320 2001

When making long sustained turns, like exiting ramps.
And I have the steering wheel turned for a while, it starts to force its way to the center in on and off movements.

Same happens a stop if I turn the wheel all the way to the stop and hold it, then it starts to make on and off pushing movements to the center.
Any ideas?

How's the power steering fluid level? When it makes the 'pushing movement' does it make any sounds? What's the frequency of the movements?

Fluid level is at full.
The movement has no sound and happens like every second it is the same feeling as when the tires needs balancing.
But in this case only is felt during sustained turns or when parking or at stop with the steering turned to one side.

With it parked, and the wheel at full lock, do you see the pulley/belt slipping on the PS pump? I've heard this problem being caused by either the PS pump or the rack....usually the pump (relief valve).

It sounds as though you have blown an internal seal in the rack. Are any of the boots full of oil?

Oh wow! I still think it's either a seal blown in the rack or a stuck valve in the pump. Presume you have zero external leaks.

The logic is that you have pressurised oil getting where it should not be & trying to force the steering back to centre.
