1 New Message: Front Left Side Lamp

It's not that easy to slide out bc their are "teeth" in the front to stop it from popping out, which is y the screw driver from behind does the trick bc their is a pressure clip which can bend

I just went to autozone to get a the same 12v bulb. It's $2.99 for a pair but it isn't as bright as OEM. Is there anyway to trick the car into thinking theres a bulb there. I have clear side markers and I'd prefer the light be out but don't want the dashboard warning popping up.

Incase I haven't said it before.
When I got my bixenons from MBenzNL, he changed the side markers for me for free =P
That was cool.
They're actually super bright now. Like... the orange is super noticeable.
I don't know what bulbs he used, so I don't know what color they'll be when I get clears. But I'm damn sure the color will leak if I used the black ones.
But from the looks of how he changed it... it doesn't seem that hard really.
Just need a few torque screws.
It's hard when you have no idea what to do.. but if you really had to do it, it's not bad. Still a hassle though.
*Hope I don't have to do it*

I agree; and this is the first bulb in my life that I am worried about changing. I tried removing the lens by sliding it back and pulling on the front as shown in the picture, but it didn't even move a little. I tried the screwdriver and cloth, but I was afraid that I was going to break a tab, so I quit. I definitely don't want to take it to my dealer, but I don't want to break the lens.

I just looked it up in my 203 STAR Service Manual Library. Every other bulb replacement is discussed except for this one!
Am I worrying too much about breaking off a plastic tab during the prying with a screwdriver process?

OK; I did the deed tonight using the screwdriver and a cloth. First, I tried prying up from the back and pushing forward, but it didn't pop out like I was hoping. So, I then tried prying from the front and pushing back, and then it happened - it came out without breaking. I replaced the bulb with one I got from a Mercedes-Benz dealer (part # 000853-64), which cost $5.60 plus tax.
It doesn't appear that there are any plastic tabs that would break off during the prying process. The next time I have to change this bulb, I will pry from the back and push forward, as that appears to be the way it was designed to be removed. Now that I have seen the back of the lens, I won't be so scared next time.

Two options:
1) do some DIY soldering / electrical resistor end work, which will prevent the warning message to pop up.
or
2) buy the MB European spec light module (which is about 400 EURO, according to my MB tech here in Stuttgart). European spec MB's don't have the side markers. So the Euro light module will never give you a malfunction message because there's no such light in their programming.
