i read somewhere where that is normal. but you say that you polish it every day? if it is accumilating that fast then i would think something is wrong. my c320 has 125000 on it and i cleaned the mufler at like 120000 and it still looks really clean. so i dont know also what c class do you have?

i have a 2002 c32 with just over 40k miles and my tips are black and cant be polished.. i dont know wut makes the carbon but i came up with the conclusion why.. the first owner of the car lived in san francisco, that means no garages. he probably warmend up the c32 every morning like every one else. since the weather is really misty, the tips are wet. when the exhaust fumes are escaping, the water traps it and it later drys on the exhaust tips staining them. ive had the car for 8k miles now and ive kept it in the garage about 90% of the time ive had it and i havent noticed the tips getting darker.. this is just me..

it probably remanants of unburnt carbon from running slightly rich. Most factory fuel maps has the car run slightly rich to increase reliablity. It normal..just clean it.

are you using prem gas? i'm sure you are... the only thing i would do is just wash them with rim cleaner and polish with chrome/wheel polish
