I would say the best balance between the big wheel look and ride quality would be 18". Going bigger than 18" means you will have a tire diameter that is larger than stock and will most likely rub.

I have occasionally considering moving up from my current 17s to 18s, but there is a far greater chance of damaging the rim, and the performance increase is slight.
AMG picked 17s because 18s tend to tramline (follow road grooves or imperfections) due to the less rounded edges.
Most larger wheels will weigh more than your current ones - you will definitely notice a decrease in power.
Lower profile tires will affect the ride, making it harsher.
Finally, the tires will certainly cost more.
They do look nice, however, if you are in it just for the looks!
