O I have a question guys... Illinois is on 2 different NAV CD's... Let's say if you just want downtown of Chicago (Michigan Ave) including O'Hare, Midway, and Chinatown, which CD is that on? Thanks!

Northeastern IL is on CD 5. If yo go here Navteq BMW Maps you can see what each CD covers. These are the BMW maps but I think they are the same coverage area.

That would be me. I was telling the guys that my wife didn't even want this in her car, it was more my idea more than anything. I was showing her the COMAND this morning, and she saw the TV button. I said I didn't install the TV option. She was mad! I guess she wants the TV now too.

Went from wanting nothing to now wanting the TV???

TV Tuner is 1000, but 250 for installation by Steve since it's a 7 hour job. So 1250. It also has 2 A/V inputs so you can hook up like a DVD player to it also.

Yeah, I agree. A bit too much for (from what I heard) reception which is not that great anyhow. The DVD video input function sounds cool, but then again California Law restricts TV / DVD / Video screens within view of the driver. Anyway, as TV signals shift within the next couple of years to HDTV there will be less and less reception of regular airwave TV signals, making the TV Tuner useless as a TV watching mod. My $0.02

Still everything is cool, I got my map screening going and the radio is playing

Here is the problem.

I want to turn the radio off, but don't want to kill the power to the comand unit. The only way I could figure out how to turn the radio (or CD for that matter) off was to either kill the power to the comand unit (which also kills my guidance) or turn the volume down all the way.

This is driving me nuts!!! How do I turn the radio off without powering the entire comand system off???

Thanks guys!

BTW: Steve did an awesome job on the install! Very nice guy!
This has been discussed thoroughly in the past, but since the search function here seems to be shot to heck, the gist of the previous conversation was you could put it in CD mode and pause the CD, or better, put it in AUX input mode with nothing on the AUX input playing.

When search functionality returns to its former grandeur, you can find the former threads and read more about it.

Thanks for the input. I guess I'll just use the mute button, it's not that big of a deal. I'm just suprised there isn't an "audio off" button or something.

Thanks!

Well Brad, it looks like I'll be heading over to the Stealer today to pick up a CD set. So if anyone is looking to buy and of the CDs (Except 5) I'm willing to sell.

That's not a bad idea. That may be what the guy did that I bought mine from. It's definately price-wise makes sense to buy the whole set of CD's. Then post on the classifies here and sell of the ones you don't want. You could probably make your money back. I think there are 11 CD's, so if you sell off say 6 of them you think you want need at $40 each, that $240 right there.

There are only 10. And it looks like the CD set is VERY expensive up by me, I looked online at the NavUpdate website because they list the price for the CD set as a comparison, my dealers want at least $100 more than what that website has. Looks like I'm gonna loose big time if I sell at $40 like I wanted to. Hopefully people won't mind paying more.

I was quoted (Lowest) $375 plus taxes (title, and license). Fricken stealers!

What about calling Navteq directly. I know the make the Mercedes disks. I buy my Audi updates directly from them.

Worth a try.

To order replacement discs, get Canadian prices, or for other questions, you may call:
1-888-NAV-MAPS (628-6277)

I tried already, they will not sell them directly and neither will the Merc 800 line.

Maybe I'm just going insane, but I am able to turn off the radio/cd/weatherband/aux by pressing the Mute button on the upper part of the command, the nice lady's voice still comes on though.

as to reply to the question:

1) turn down volume all the way
2) mute audio with the mute button (which is what it is for)
3) set comand in AUX mode without AUX connected
4) set comand in TV mode (as that is active on yours)...

It was nice meeting y'all in the chicago area...thanks for showing up just as scheduled without any delays or flake outs!
Bill, thanks for the ride from the airport!

greetingz,
