pre-2005 (CD-based) EURO COMAND thread (All You Want To Know)
What about us on the east coast?? Any plans for an install trip to the DC area? Are new and refurbished units the only options available through you?
I do have 1 manual...it is THICK and is in german...I will try to get some UK ones.
greetingz,
Steve.
When you get a chance, can you let us know if user manuals for the units will also be available? I heard they contain something like 150 pages of information.
Thanks!
Cheers!
Or question for others, what about an install of the Harman/Kardon TrafficPro - is it possible to install it? I know, our coupe does not have a standard opening...
Steve, I too am interested. 2002 C230K, no Bose, stock radio. Live in Detroit though

Thanks for the info on contacting MB for the manual. Were you able to order one for the Euro Comand? I don't know very much at all about the systems, so I'm thinking I should wait to see what type Steve is able to install. I have a W210 and not sure if the units are universal, or if there's a specific one for that model. I guess once it's installed I'll have to order the CD as well!
Thanks!

I suppose that marsshuttle ordered a US comand manual?

greetingz,
I only have euro comands...and for your W210 I have a 210 820 .. 89 comand (the .. depends on what year your W210 is).
I suppose that marsshuttle ordered a US comand manual?
greetingz,
from MBUSA. It's been about a week since my Euro Comand Install and so far I really don't need the manual, but I thought it will be cool to have.
I have picked up all comand units that were left at a Dutch MB parts company (they buy directly from MB and only per large quantity...they had over 125 comand units when I first bought a batch of units from them) and think I better start this february thing going.
I will mail those who already confirmed their comand wish by mail, but it might take a few days untill I get around...so feel free to mail me again after reading this post.
I might start in New York...so anyone interested who lives in that area: ACT QUICK (shipping to NY area takes twice to three times as long as shipping to california).
Those with a 210 and comand "needs" that want me to order a wood panel for their W210 as well (approx. 250USD incl. tax new from the NL dealership) have to act quick as well due to the possible delivery time on the wood panel...please be sure to mail me all details (color of the wood and number of switches).
Anyone who is in or wants to be in on this comand thing mail me and give me the following info:
1) car model and year (specifically mentioning (non) modelupdated version when it is a W208 or W210)
2) presence of tele aid (GPS antenna)
2) location (new York, LA or the bay area)
3) need of AUX input
4) need of a euro TV tuner
5) need of RGB connector (if I can get enough of those in time)
I have to organise quiet a bit on this install thing and have to order all specific parts up front so I want to know as much as possible as soon as possible.
I will reserve comand units in order of received downpayments (200USD as previous mentioned).
I don't have navigation CDs (besides a german and dutch CD), this is something you have to get yourself...I can get english euro comand manuals as well in case anyone wants that...
mail me at s_krabbenborg@hotmail.com

Have a great Christmas Steve !!
p.s. - bump me up on the RGB plug list

greetingz,
1) Will the euro tv tuner work with NTSC/North American signals? I assume it does since you're offering it. Also how much does it cost?
2) How much is the RGB connector, and is that for hooking up a dvd, or do you also need this if you get the tv tuner and just want to hookup the tv function as well? How much is this?
3) How much is the AUX input? I'd like to hookup a tape player possibly in the future.
Thanks,
Safet
I understand that Steve is using refurbished command units. Since he did your car recently, can you tell that the unit is used? Does it have scratches or imperfections? Or does it look like new?
The positive thing about these units is that they are cheap (compared to new), they function and the display itself is fully okay (no dead pixels)...the negative thing about these units is that some show signs of use (some even show signs of DISABuse) but that is something that comes with the price (most units are in a very good condition though).
greetingz,
