Repair times - major body work

First, I found an easy way to repair paint chips, just smash the whole front of your car into another car.

For those that have had major damage sustained to their cars, I was wondering what the repair times were like. I have heard one member mention 3 months... I'd hate to be carless for that long.

I may post pics, but I really can't stand to see my baby all smashed up, but here's about the list of damage:
1. Front bumper pushed down;
2. Hood pushed back;
3. Grill smashed;
4. Both front fenders pushed out;
5. Fans pushed into radiator;
6. Bottom protective panel pushed down onto ground;
7. Leaking and burning anti-freeze;
8. Headlight smashed;

I had a < 30 kmph front end collision with a Cavalier, only damage on that car was to the front bumper. As you can see from the above list, there is a disadvantage to having the more agressive look of this car, at least $3000-5000 damage for what should've been a simple fender bender.

No air bags deployed, both cars were stopped at the intersection before the collision occured.

i had a very similar accident. the front might even have had more damage than you, but for the most part my car suffered the same casulties. it only took them 3 weeks to do my car. i went to an authorized benz shop and was really impressed, the bill came out to like 7kish.

$3000 - $5000?

Not to scare you, but I was rear-ended (stopped at a light) at about 15MPH five days after I got the car. Bumper, rear bulkhead, lower hatch bent, spare wheel well (composite), and some dings on the rear suspension subframe. The only actual bodywork required was to replace the rear bulkhead (quarter-panels were bent, but snapped back when the bulkhead was cut out). Everything else was bolt (or glue!) on new parts, and paint everything behind the A-pillar. Total bill was $14863. Total shop time was nine weeks. They did a great job, but I was floored by the bill for what was pretty modest damage.

You drive a Mercedes, couldn't you see the dollar signs in the shop guy's eyes when you brought your car in? I got quoted $1500 for a repaint of my right rear quarter panel. I have a 2" scratch above the right fender lip.

I was floored by the estimate, $11000 CND, I asked if they were joking. $7000 in parts, $4000 in labour, 3 weeks until its ready... hopefully.

I had never thought about this when I bought the car, but I guess MB builds all the strength of these cars into the structure, not body work, like domestics do.

I was hit on the front driver side. The door and the front panel were replaced and repainted. It took 3 weeks and the average estimate was ~$2500. Unfortunately the paint shop didn't match the silver very well so I had to take it back and wait another 2 weeks to get it perfect.
