East Coast Interest in MBenzNL installation
http://www.mbenznl.nl/index.php
Maybe if we could round up enough people, he could the East coast on his schedule perhaps?
I asked Steve about it a few months ago and his response toward the East coast was "never again".
Having lived here all my life I don't know if I can blame him.
I'm in NY.

there are some areas/cities that are pretty cool (in summer that is...in winter that is way too cool) but most of the eastcoast areas are filled with stressed-out people honking their horns and cursing their way through traffic...it is ALMOST interesting to see when waiting for your ride on the airport

greetingz,

greetingz,
I do wish you would reconsider! Why not fly into Newark and find a hotel in one of the nearby rural parts of New Jersey? Pretty open and quiet there, and 20 - 30 min from NYC.
Mike, I saw a car very similar to yours today in Gainesville. It's the only other "purple" C that I've seen. Color looks nice... sorry, back on topic.
(1) Not enough people willing to put a deposit for the install ahead of time
"The East Coast is definitely not an area where Steve likes to stay. It's not that we don't like the people there, it's just that whenever we want to set up an install trip and ask for deposits to confirm orders (which is to prevent us from ordering and shipping goods in vain)... people back out. They always want to know dates, but we can't set dates if we don't know how much work we will get! And we don't know how much work we can get, unless we actually receive the deposits."
(2) No solid place for him to stay, ship, or install the parts
"Also, at the West Coast and in Toronto we actually have a place where Steve can work (and sleep) and where we can ship our parts to, knowing that things will be fine when Steve gets there. We don't have that at the East Coast... which also makes it difficult for us to set up a trip there."
(3) He had a bad experience last trip
"I remember a trip Steve made to the East Coast during the summer of 2004. One of our customers told us that we could ship all parts that were needed to his home address. So we did. When Steve arrived there, all boxes were indeed delivered at that address... but since the customer didn't have enough room inside (no actual garage), our parts were stashed on the driveway. They could have easily been stolen, or imagine that it would have rained..."

So I guess chances are slim, but it seems like the only way we could get him to come is if we (1) get enough people willing to put down deposits, (2) have someone on here who has a nice garage setup, and (3) possibly give him a place to stay.
Hmmm... I would definitely be willing to put in a deposit especially because its so rare for him to come. So it seems like the first step is to get a list of people not only interested, but also willing to put down some $$ upfront.
How about the rest of you?

East Coast cars tend to be much more utilitarian transportation. I guess it is the weather, as you move south you start to see a bit more of the Mods and care for the cars. I wonder if it isn't partly the weather -- as you move south cars tend to become more "California-ish" in their mods and general care. I've often though (hoped) that there might be a Florida trip for Steve.
I would *LOVE* to get some coding done. But alas, I live where I live. Oh well, at least I still get to drive my Coupe!
@ acr2001: yes, NJ is indeed a lot better place to stay then NY (for me that is)
greetingz,

when will you head to toronto? (end of july - august i hope). i have a few cousins up there i've been meaning to visit... so that should work out great.
