C270 CDI
MW Radio Problem
Hello all new to the forum as just purchased a C270 CDI Avantgarde '03 plate which I am already in love with.
I have scoured through the forums and have not been able to find a solution to my problem so here goes.
I have the standard MB radio/cd with a 6 CD changer in the glove compartment. CD's work fine and FM radio seems to be fine. The problem is with MW and trying to listen to 5-live 909 MW due to the huge background noise. It did work fine when I first brought the car, but now you can hear the presenters faintly, but this is overpowered by the background noise.
So the question is do I need to replace the panel, buy a new arial or is it something even simpler?
Please forward any suggestions, I need this station back for the motorway journeys I do.

If not tinting damage to rear aerial then blown aerial amp or bad aerial earth in rear quarter panel.

OK - This diagram is confusing because it's for a full house installation.
The antenna amplifier, connections & earth are in the LHS rear C pillar, item 10 - upholstered cover pulls off. You will also see a long pad connector that is above the LHS rear window under the head lining. This makes connection with the antenna wires in the rear screen. It's stuck on and often comes loose. You can access it in the gap between the window & the headliner. Just push it firmly into place & see if reception improves. This is often the problem. Otherwise check the amp, connections & earth in the C pillar. - Good luck![thumbs](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)
