C280 mods
hey guys, this is my first post on these forums. I recently got a 2006 C280 will 11,xxx miles on it. I love this car, this is my first AWD car, its handles nicely and has a good amount of power. my question is, what kind of mods are out for these cars, I know there are kits for them like the Brabus, AMG, ect. but what other mods are out for it instead of getting a kit?
Thanks!

Nice to see another '06 c280 on the forums.
Sorry dude. But if you wanted some serious gains for the money... you should've gotten an AMG =P
Modifying Mercedes engines is simply too much cost for gain when you could get an AMG (more miles... but so what, you want speed right?)
Most you can do, reasonably, is make it look faster =P
Welcome btw.

yea but arent there performance packages like turbos and body kits? i know they might be pricey.
basically what im saying is aside from the price, is there really now way of modding the engine? im sure there has to be i just wondered if anyone has or knows anyone who has because even though they r powerful effecient engines, im sure they can make somemore horses.

1999 CLK320 (sold), 2007 C230 SS (gone), 2000 Grand Marquis, 2011 CR-Z, stay tuned...
ECU tune and underdrive pulley... pretty much it for power mods. Some other things I hear about, TVT has them: better air intake, modified thermostat to run engine cooler, throttle body mods. GL, I'd like to see what you end up doing.
And of course, welcome.

okay cool thanks ill look into that. I also found some superchargers and turbo kits that fit the 3.0 w203 so i might look into those as well. i think first, im gonna do new suspension, lowered, and it needs a tint

Sorry if I sound like an A$$ hole and i'm not trying to offend any 280 owners but fixing up that car isn't worth it at all as a matter of fact I would say the same to the 230SS - 350 owners the same as well (especially to the non sport model owners).
You are going to dump a lot of money to make it somewhat quicker (not fast)
The car has 228HP. If you go out and dump all this money (Supercharger, Suspension, Body) - Easily over 5K (correct me if i'm wrong) isn't worth it at all dumping all this money you might as well buy a AMG w203.
In the end I think the max you will gain is close to 300HP max.
By fixing up I mean (Supercharger and expensive performance mods) Cosmetics and Suspension is cool but not engine mods (expensive)
Also no offense but 4Matic not my cup of coffee (horsepower loss + it's auto)

What he says about the mods is true.
I love my c280 and all, but before this car I was never that into MB's.
However, having driven this car... MB's are amazing compared to everything else I've experienced. Very good combo of engine and luxury. There are best engines, and also better luxury cars, but none that quite give you just enough of both.
If I had known about the C55, and how fairly close I was to it, I would've told my parents I'd worked another extra summer or two to make up the difference they'd help, and buy one.
There's a 2006 c55 with less than 19,000 miles right now on San Francisco Craigslist... and it still has warranty for 1 year listed for ~$28,500.
(Private Owner Too!!) That's an amazing steal, and in this economy.. I would've probably haggled him down to about $25,000 out the door. Then another 2K Taxes, and 3K insurance... for a total of $30,000 to drive a 2006 MB C55 AMG for a year
*Drools*
Well. Can't cry about spent money.
C280s are still amazing, and I'll drive mine till it croaks!
*Knocks on wood, and hopes this never happens*
So for any non-AMG w203's, it's simply not as worth it to dump money into engine mods. Exterior mods however, that's fine
You won't BE fast, but you can look fast

here are several mods that yes, maybe expensive but, i like my car and they will deffinitly push over 300 horse power.
1) Powerchip - +20Hp, +10 lbs/ft. -- this disables speed limiter as well (just an FYI)
2)Kleeman supercharger - +105Hp(depends on tune) +70 lbs/ft.
there are two mods that will bring me over 300Hp, now after 300Hp, i would take the time to reinforce or replace any parts that maybe under heavy stress with the added Hp and torque. looks expensive yes, but deffinitly possible and would be a fun ongoing project.
And yes, i did look into all these parts fitting and they deffinitly will with some minor adjustments.
my local German MB and VW tunning shop said it can be done.

I'm into speed and power as well and wouldn't mind dropping money into making it faster but with all that money that I am going to spend I can just get a C55 or C32 (very good one 18,000).
I paid 20K for my car If I do engine mods with the money I am going to spend I can just get a C55 which is NA or same price range of my car C32 which is Supercharged
Think of it this way it's only temporary and one day we will be rollin "Rollnnn"( - hope it's not a trademark ) in brand new AMG C Class or even higher

Gratz on your car
I have read all the posts. If you have the money and don't mind paying them, then go ahead and do the mods (powerchip, supercharger, etc). You are the one who own and drive the car, do what you think is worth to it. I see most people just do cosmetic mods, but a few people did dump a supercharger kit into their Benz especially the W208 CLK and the W210 E. Just my 0.02.

sorry to rain on your parade, but Kleemann so far hasn't come out with the supercharger kit upgrade for the M272. Their site is full of ****. If they have the M272 charger available we would've seen their press release/news/videos of any kind already. phantom specs and re-release date on their site http://www.kleemann.dk/Performance/E...M272M112.aspx#
If this is ready will you get it for your w204?
Or is it better to just get the C63?

2006 C280
Does anybody know where I can get a carbon fiber front lip for a 2006 c280? I can find tons for the AMG bumper that the c230s have, but I can't find any for the luxury bumpers. Any help would be awesome.
