pre '05 after '05 parts interchangeable ?

hi Guys

I just bought a 2001 c320, the car was cheap but the interior really looks its age. Can someone please tell me what parts are interchangeable,

Can I make my '01 look like an '07?
-seats
-gauge cluster
-central panel
-sport brakes
-front,rear bumpers?

thanks in advance

Headlights, mirror signals are interchangable. Start there.

Center console is not. Pre '05 use D2B, 05+ use MOST, the head units are not interchangeable without thousands in modifications.

Cluster I'm not sure about, but I've never seen it done so far.

Bumpers are the same already.

Seats are probably interchangeable but will probably cost more than you think to change.

Cluster has been done by a member just can't remember who it was. Bumpers are not the same as 01 bumpers they have a little bit styling difference. and I believe 05+ comes with the AMG package? correct me if I am wrong i know for sure the 2006 & 2007 do...

No the pre-05s don't have the AMG bumper. Pre-05 the AMG bumper was exclusive to the C32. The gauges are supposedly a nightmare to change and require extensive coding from what I have read. All 2005+ Sport cars do have the AMG kit. Anything is possible with enough money, but if you had said money, I'm sure you would have just purchased a 2005 or newer to start with.

exactly
my car is really in a bad shape, but thats why it was so cheap, and I kinda like changing things around, so I should have fun with it.

Anybody know how to replace the gauge cluster, what coding is there to be done?

Nothing MB related (sorry)
Steve (MBenzNL) swapped his 203 cluster out for a 209 CLK cluster in his 2001 S203 back then. But that is NOT an easy DIY kind of job! Furthermore, chances are that the fuel gauge won't work as it should - so that's something you have to keep in mind then.

Like Nick said, you can swap the headlights, fogs, mirror blinkers and tails out for the 2005+ ones. You can swap the shifter for the 2005+, armrest can be updated as well.

Let's see, maybe you can get different interior trims for the car. Brake upgrade is definitely possible. And then there are lots of extra things to do, all depending on what you want / need and what you are willing to spend.

greetingz,

BigSis

Hey Wanda,

Is there any chance that Steve would actually try to swap a 209 cluster into my 01' 203? I know the chances of it failing, and I heard from Sunil that the swap will only work on 03'+ 203's, but I would like to know if you guys would do it, and at what price? Thanks!

'05 gauge cluster definatelly looks better, it's worth a try

my #1 priority are c230 sport rotors and calipers, can onybody tell me if I need some special brackets etc etc, is it even doable on my 2001 c320 sport

Your C320 Sport of 2001 has 16" rims? You'll have to budget not only for the parts of the brake upgrade but also for new tires and rims. I don't believe the 16" rims will be able to accommodate the 05-07 Sport brakes.

EDIT: It's a snug fit with my OEM 17s.

I'm planning to get 2007 sport 17" wheels

Do I need brackets to make teh sport calipers work, or is it a direct fit?

In theory it should be possible for Steve to do such a retrofit. But to be honest, it's not something he wants to do when traveling around. There is a chance that the 209 instrument cluster won't work right away, in which case we need to ship the IC back and forth in order to try and get it to work.

Such an upgrade is something Steve may be willing to do at our own workshop, so that he can keep the car a bit longer in case needed... but that's a bit out of range for you.

2005+ clusters can't be installed in pre 2005 203s / 209s, if I am not mistaking.

greetingz,

BigSis

Just do all the cosmetics, seats, brakes etc. The rest can be done but at horrendous expense & possibility for problems.

Anything possible with the moolah - Got to decide whether it is financially sensible.

Hey sorry to revive the thread, but I don’t see any pics in this thread. Can the op repost the pics? I’d love to do this to my C32 but use an aftermarket head unit too

If you play around with the cluster you won't get the mileage showing.
