Speaker problem??
hey guys, recently I've noticed that every now and then wen listening to music, the music will quickly fade out and then go back to normal, it fades for no longer than a second and is only noticeable sometimes. It doesnt happen to all songs just some and doesnt happen all the time. anyone experience this too??

I think, from his other posts, the C280 is a 2006. That would mean it's a post-Bose W203. I've never experienced it but couldn't that be an amp issue?

You probably have the Harman Kardon upgraded sound system. There is a tiny mic inside your cabin to monitor various ambient sound inside the car. The sound interfering with the primary music being played is recieved by the mic and is sent to the amp to equalize the sound to help compensate for the frequencies that cant be heard. (rough road, windows down can cause fractures in sound reproduction of the speakers). After ambient sound is analyzed, the amp equaliztion setting is changed and is sent to the speakers, therefore you are hearing the changes in volume at certain times.

ohh, fade out completely?
im not sure 100% but thats all my knowledge of what could be going on. I know my car does the same thing, it will get louder, then start fading out to lower the volume when the cabin gets quiet.

I think all C-class cars have speed-sensitive volume and premium sound cars (Bose till 04.5 and H/K since) have the feature that overcomes ambient noises. Bose calls this AudioPilot or something. But I think Tony is having his car fade completely out.
Tony92 - Do you have the standard Audio20 or upgraded Harman/Kardon system? Both have amps, though.

Nope. Speed sensitive volume does not make sharp or "quick" adjustments. I have the same Audio20 and this never happens to me no matter how fast or slow I go, or how quickly speed changes. You've got an issue somewhere. Are you under factory warranty by chance?

Can one defeat this feature? SA cars have different audio set ups. That would drive me mad.

If you can turn speed-sensitive volume off, I don't know how. I barely notice it in my car, though - not intrusive. It was much more intrusive in my 2007 Civic Si and is more intrusive in the 135i.
