"Chirp"

I remember some discussions on this earlier...

Is it possible to set the C-coupe chirp when you lock/unlock the car? (with or without factory alarm)

Thanks in advance

chirp info

thanks to Mark Cummins (i slightly edited the text for clarity and typos):

First you must have the MB factory handheld lap top tester go into the system
go into programs
then locate the rear SAM program
then locate body
then norway
and wa la
it's there to program the chirp, chirp, chirp on locking and a single chirp on the unlock

Thanks for all the info.
Is the chirp available with no factory alarm as well? If yes, what makes the chirping sound, if there is no alarm siren in the car?

There's a siren....just press the panic button on your smartkey to check.
...or...you can do a real world test by throwing a brick through YOUR drivers side window and unlocking the car from the inside....

Yep, I need to add a couple different things to it. So I will do it all as a batch and add it.

In Canada the alarm is an option, which VoyagerDude apparently doesn't have. He may not have the siren.

It should be the same for sedans. I think some of the members who own sedans have had it done.

i should post a disclaimer. i have not done this procedure as i prefer the visual cues. mark cummins said he had it done on his wife's coupé. Kwik has it on his E320

the info that i read was that this procedure is possible for ALL late model MBs - so yes, i would think it should work for the sedans also.

please refer to this thread to see actual discussion:

Young, I thought I read in one of the various posts on this subject that this only worked on C-class cars.

i didn't see that (but i've been wrong before ) but Kwik said he had it done on his E class car and adam said it was possible on 2000+ model E classes also.
here are 2 links for that:
https://mbworld.org/forums/showthrea...ghlight=norway
https://mbworld.org/forums/showthrea...ghlight=norway

mbtech has a small warning in this thread - about possible errors and chirping not for US - is this an implication that CLs can have it too?:
https://mbworld.org/forums/showthrea...ghlight=norway

also, small note about MLs not being able to do this as they use a horn instead of a siren???

That's right Lynn.

There is no panic button on my remotes (and probably no siren).
So no chirp for me I guess.

Theres no panic buttons on UK remotes, but we do have additional sirens. I think we have the additional siren in the ML aswell [when my wife comes back i'll test it, if no siren i'll post]

while i was skimming this months issue of merc enthusiast, there is an article about diagnosis software. at the end, they mention some software that can change the settings (like DAS) of late model german cars - i think it said it costs £1500. comes w/ connectors and i think all you need is the computer.

i didn't read it fully, but i will monday and post more info if people are interested.
