stereo question

Has anybody replaced the Bose sub in their coupe? Is it possible since it runs off a fiber optic cable(I'm pretty sure) Is there anything special that needs to be done. I'm thinking about removing the Bose unit, having a box custom built and putting in an aftermarket sub and amp to fit in the existing location. Does anybody have any ideas? Is it even possible with the fiber optics? Any help would be great.

i believe fiber optics is only from the cd changer to the head. i'm not completely sure but i'm sure someone else can verify. it's pretty easy install to add sub and amp.

The fiber optic loop connects to Bose amp to the headunit. I know, because Steve said so when he was installing my COMAND.

I've removed the sub and I can tell you with 100% accuracy that there are NO fiber optic cables going to the sub. Just 2 regular speaker wires.

Anyone know the amount of current running to the sub stock? if its enough that we can maybe push another sub that would rule.

I don't know what the current is, but I've been told an additional amp is required.
