It is a short throw shifter that comes with the US C7 package. This is the Evolution package elsewhere. It is leather wrapped sport shifter for the manual tranny. The C7 package is the body colored door handles, short throw shifter, thicker steering wheel, chrome exhaust tip, studded aluminum pedals, and the 17 inch wheels and tires upgrade offered to the US for $750 as an option. It is one of the best deal packages you can get here. I am not sure what is included in the Evolution package, I believe it is mostly the same with the addition of Evolution floor mats.

I odn't know about throwing it in the 6, you should be able to find the part number for the old shifter on the forum and compare it to the part number in the slk for your answere, as far as adding the short throw shifter, it makes a big difference, best mod I made I think, but you don't get the new shift *** with it, that is another 250 dollars

It's been a while since I have driven a manual SLK320. But from what I remember, that car has relatively short throws. If the C7 or similar shifter is not already in there, I doubt it would make a difference. You should just stick with what you have.

right now I think that is the only option for the C230, I am not sure of this, maybe the slk guys have worked something out... You can order the shifter itself from any place that sells mercedes parts and your dealer should be willing to install it, it is genuine MB.
