I was in search of a quality flat hood emblem for my 06 C230 and they dont really seen to exist. I contacted DFWDude about his white star emblem he made a few years back but he's not currently producing them. I did find this one on ebay sold by mkm_customs though that looks as if it's made similar to the way DFWDude made his by using the factory standing star base with an insert. I dont know that it matters now since I have already ordered one, but has anyone gotten this one off ebay? If so, what are your impressions of it?

Don't bother with the e-bay flat hood emblems.

The flat hood emblem for the W204 from the DEALER is only $24.xx Canadian Dollars, and fits the W203.

Lol.

Mystery, did you read his post.. at all?

Hahaha.

OP,

That badge looks pretty nice. Since you ordered it, nothing much you can do.

I think it looks nice. But the allen bolt on the other side looks weird to me. I don't think OEM parts have it, but let us know via pictures how it turns out

You're not missing out much from the ones DFWdude made. My white star insert is turning kinda' yellow from the sun after ~3 months
Maybe I'm doing something wrong.

I had this one for a while before I bought a White Star from DFWDude. It's just the OEM upright star mount (like the White Stars) with a fairly basic aluminum three-pointed star the middle rather than DFWDude's fancier fill-in. Therefore, nothing at all wrong with the quality (unless you don't like Mercedes OEM parts). The fill-in on this one is definitely smaller than DFWDude's, and rather than sitting flush with the top of the OEM piece, the aluminum, smaller star on this one sits further down in the hole for the upright star assembly.

Benzben, Are you saying that the smaill tristar in the middle actually sits a bit recessed in the middle? Jeesh, I hope not...

And as far as EBAY is concerned, just the fact that DFWDude sold what...350 of them... reinforces the fact that some owners want real quality and will get it WHEREVER they can find it. I mean, come on Mercedes, the base of the standing star is great quality... solid metal, why cant they make an OEM flat badge of the same quality??? Sorry for the rant.

Why delete the standing star? This is a popular mod that I will never understand. IMO, the W203's front fascia is too small for a huge in-grille star a la CL class. Makes the car look cross-eyed.

Guess I got tired of "targeting" pedestrians...lol

Really, to each his own. I like the star in the grill look better.

my 1st choice would be to wait for DFWdude's white star badge...
2nd choice would be OEM flat hood badge...

don't like the design of that emblem on ebay... IMO

I like in-grill stars, but I do agree with Matt that the grill on our w203s is a bit too small for the in-star grill. I like the grills with the horizontal, but not vertical slats paired with a flat badge. I had a flat badge with the stock grill on my other car (CLK), because of the aforementioned tearing off of stars, but I got a few "nice BMW" comments. I felt like such a dick, being only 17, saying "actually, it's a Mercedes." But I was just trying to be clear.

Looks very good on the W204. Makes the W203 look like a guy with his eyes way too close together, and crossed. The car is so small. The star, so large. It just doesn't flow right.

If people stop posting threads about ebay and I'll stop posting my thoughts on ebay. BTW factory grill and flat badge FTW.

Your thoughts weren't expressed on "eBay" - they were expressed as if Mercedes-Benz owners were too rich/good to shop for anything on eBay. Which is complete . In case you haven't noticed, you can have a 2005 C230 now for less-than-Civic money. Owning a C230 doesn't make you rich, it makes you own a car that wears a badge with rich heritage.
