Raining so the Car gets work
Raining (again!!) in Atlanta, so the car is getting a full Comand retrofit today. I am actually using the factory GPS splitter and GPS antenna for the TeleAide, so I had to run a cable from the rear to the front. I'm also adding the Climatronic controls and AUX input. Will post pictures once I am done.
No project goes without problems, I guess. For some reason the canbus wake-up signal isn't going out. I am guessing a problem in my adapter harness, but won't know until I find my voltmeter. Oh well, such is what makes it interesting I suppose. It will be a fun week commuting with half the dash taken out.

Comand Finally working
Finally got the Comand unit working. I had a loose C2 connector - it wasn't seated properly that was causing all the problems. Got the version coding done and so far so good. Although it has been written up before, I'll probably write up the install just to help people searching.
Now, do I go for C7 wheels, AMG sways, painted door handles, BiX's, '05 tails....hmmm....what's next. You guys are right, this is a bit addictive.

I'm going to try to write it up as soon as I get a chance. I will have to total it all up but I think I got about 500 total invested, parts, wiring harnesses, different bits here and there.
In all honestly, aftermarket is better GPS, routing and such, if you are going to use it for navigation. I just wanted it because it was a factory option that the car didn't have ....and it was just fun to do.

They also play music straight out of a USB stick/iPod/iPhone. What more can you ask for?

also one final question, do the steering wheel buttons work with the avic's? I rarely use them but was just wondering...
Thanks a bunch!

Ok, I've finally gotten around to writing up the COMAND install. I am also including another write-up I used as a reference, along with some other references.

C7 Rims
I finally found a set of good C7 rims for the car. One has some clear-coat peeling, and they will need some cosmetic work before I mount them. Hopefully I will have them on later this summer.
Sometimes I wonder if this effort is worthwhile with a car that now has 120,000 miles, but I do enjoy it. Still going strong, although it did end up needing a water pump last month. Sometime this summer it will get the body color door handles to go with the rims. I did swap to the C7 package pedals last month.

I bought the pedals from the dealer. I had a pretty good parts guy who would do wholesale (and he's retired, still getting to know my new one).
The two brake pedals were cheap, I don't remember exactly, but I spent less than 50 for both I believe. The throttle was the expensive part. You could just change the pedal face, but I actually ordered the whole assembly. It was something like 150, give or take a bit.
I will post part numbers if I still have them. I kept the old parts, and I think I still have the bags with the numbers.

Way to revive a dead thread.
Several coupes here without the pano. One guy I know (local) has manual, leather, and no pano. 2nd guy has an auto but cloth and also no pano.
