strange right turn signal/flasher (mirror) behavior - opinions needed.
Hi,
I just thought, before ripping the right rearview mirror apart, I should get an opinion from the experts here.
Scenario:
The car kept giving me "right signal mirror" indication on the instrument cluster, even though, the flashers were working fine - I checked all of the LEDs, they were functional. This happened once in a while before, until now when the right signal is completely dead. i.e. the indicator doesn't work anymore.
I don't think the LEDs in the flashers have died, because if that was the case, this problem wouldn't just come and go prior to this.
What do you think it can be? Can it be a fuse? is there a separate fuse for the turn signal located on the mirror?

There is no code. It's not that kind of error. I had a similar problem, took the mirror off, cleaned the contacts, and it's been fine since. The mirror uses LEDs so it's unlikely that you have a bad bulb. Check for water behind the lens, if water got in then that is whats causing the problem.

btw: it's a 2006 c230 Sport Sedan.
phoenix - there's no code, just a message saying "right signal (mirror)" on the instrument cluster.
acr2001 - that's what I think it is, I am certain that the LEDs are okay, because they just came back alive after not working for the whole day. It's probably the water short circuiting something.

Yes, the LEDs are in parallel and the circuit can live with one dead LED....but I don't know about the warning message. Are you sure all the LEDs are blinking? Had to ask. Try acr2001 advice, I bet it works. There's several posts about how to remove the mirror....not that big a deal.

Mine did this as well. It would randomly give an error but the error came and went and the signal worked fine.. for a while. Eventually the entire LED strip ceased to function. It was replaced under warranty.

Been seeing the "left turn signal" message in the display intermittently, accompanied by rapid blinking when turning left. So my question is, how to remove the mirror or if removal is even necessary to gain access to LED’s and connectors for cleaning? Fault usually occurs after washing. Only 49K on this car and I will never own another. I will post tirade separately.
