Red face C320, 2001, reset codes

I recently had to replace the grab handle on my drivers door. I intended to leave the interior door panel on the door but was unable to do what was needed with it on. Consequently, I had to unhook the SRS. Once I reinstalled the panel the SRS light remains on. Please tell me how to reset it so I don't have to pay to have someone do it for me.

Is this for the 2001 C320?

You might get a better response asking this in the w203 forum. Welcome to the forum.

Don't disconnect the battery without a quiescent current device or you will have to resynch everything on the car. See sticky at top of this forum

removing the door panel doesn't have any plug/connector that goes to the SRS. the SRS warning is most likely unrelated.

have a shop that has STAR read the error codes before resetting it. SRS warning can only be reset by STAR.

Frankw is right from my understanding if you unplug an airbag it has to be reset with the star and cant be done with any other system.

Are you sure you unplugged the airbag? Did you power up the car with the airbag unplugged? I don't believe disconnecting and reconnecting an airbag with the power off is recognized by the system as a fault.

My SRS light

Thanks for the responses. I can only tell you that the light was not on before I took the panel off and was on immediately after I reinstalled it. Any other thoughts?

well mleskovar is right if you put the key in the ignition while the airbag was off you would cause a fault only fixed at the dealer. but if you just took the panel off and only unplugged the switches and stuff and not the air bag then you either nicked something or a wired Coincidence. either an airbag is unplugged or shorting out somehow, seat sensor, trim around radio with the airbag light and that is it as far as i know for causing that error. you could take to door panel off again and see if their is anything unplugged or damaged.

ok...here's what's on the driver door "panel" that has connections.

1. power window switch/trunk release
2. pillar speaker
3. memory seats (if you have it)
4. entry light

there's no switch you can unplug on the driver door that affects the SRS unless you went and trip a wire on the door frame somehow.

as I said previously. it is most likely unrelated. have some shop with STAR to read the error code to see what it is and then reset it.

Red face SRS light

Sorry, Mleskovar. To answer your questions... No, I am not postive I disconnected the SRS. After I put the door panel back on I turned the car on to make sure the windows etc..worked. That is when I immediately saw the red SRS light.
