Coupe power seats continued...

Like everyone else here, I can't reply to my own post so:

Bos, I think you're right. Your response makes a lot of sense and I'll check it out in the morning.

I did finally get the driver's seat to move forward after I posted this question, but as it sits now it won't move. I think my wife may have moved the seat closer and that may be the reason. Hopefully the "easy entry" setting moves the seat back far enough so it will move forward when accessing the back. Which brings me to my next question:

Speaking of the "easy entry" feature. The driver seat doesn't move back for her when she removes the key. I'm still playing around with all the settings, but I think it failed to mave back even when she used my key. She's very small and I'm wondering if there's a sensor in the seat cushion to detect if the seat is occupied? Could she be so light that the car thinks she's not there and doesn't move the seat back for her to get out?

C230 brilliant silver, panorama sunroof, auto, everything but leather.
I had them look into the very same problem when I took my car in for a few issues that I was having. 2 days later and I had to drive around a Pontiac Grand Am!!!, they told me that the seat will not move back when you remove the key if it is about 1/2 way back. Mine is not quite that far back, but if you move the seat up pretty close to the steering wheel when you have the easy entry/exit feature on, it will move the seat back. They told me that if the seat is in the realm of 1/2 way, it will not move back any further...

I'll post a bunch as soon as I get the car cleaned up. Sooner if you want to see a dirty car. It's currently covered in road salt and sand. Also I have 2000 E-Class 16" wheels with snow tires on now. I can't wait to get the C7's back on.

Is there anything in particular you want a picture of?

230benzboy, that is a very interesting piece of info. I have had the same problem with the memory seats in my sedan. My wife is 5'4", and so she sits close to the wheel. The easy entry seat retracts perfectly for her. I'm 6'0" and so I sit further back (maybe into the 1/2 way zone) as my seat will not retract.

Further, when I take a carload out to lunch, I'll move my seat forward 3-4" so the party sitting behind me has more legroom. In this case, when we get to the restaurant and I remove the key, my seat WILL retract, (with embarassing results to the party behind). On return to the car, I put in the key and the seat pulls forward to the non-key related courtesy position. Perhaps in moving the seat forward just that 3-4" I have moved the seat forward of the 1/2 way zone.

I'll have to experiment more on this. Thanks for the info!!!

I have experienced the same thing with People in the back seat. Although, my seat does move back when I pull the key out under normal circumstances. However, if I pull my seat forward, and then pull the key out, when I put the key back in, it goes back to the forward position. Could it be that the key remembers the last position, and not a memory position?
