Be Careful

Check the shape of the bolts at the end of the threads and before the head of the bolt. Original MB bolts have a bullet or rounded shape there; while some aftermarket wheels and bolts have a more "funnel shape". The latter being more tapered than the round shape of the originals.

Essentially the shape of the bolt in this area has to match up with the portion of the wheel where the bolts line up. If you use a rounded bolt (MB) in a wheel calling for a tapered bolt (aftermarket) you will not be seating the entire assembly properly.

I found all this out the hard way after buying a set of aftermarket rims and realizing I should have included the bolts in the deal. I did have to go out and purchase the proper tapered bolts and this make the deal less of a "deal" as the good bolts are not cheap.

H&R makes varoius sizes of bolts and also has the different cup types for the head. H&R quality is as good as original MB, maybe better.

If you install bolts that are too long you may take out your brake system components, if they are too short it is obviously unsafe. If you use the wrong cup type then you will foul your wheels. The wrong material will rust or just look bad. The wrong thread.....

If you don't know exactly how to do it, I yourself strongly suggest you call Evosport and get precisely what you need. The H&R bolts are not cheap, but this is not a good place to save a few dollars.

Kwik and jnjrowland have it , but to clear it up:
Stock MB wheels will use the rounded cup-type heads. Aftermarket will use whatever they want. Four things need to be right 1) Head type ["cup" or "V"] 2) length 3) thread 4) material.

The spacers are used to push your rear wheels further out from the hub and make it look like you have wider rear wheels. If you look at your car, the rear wheels are tucked further into the wheel wells. Then longer bolts are required once you space it out.

There not just for the Rear, they can be used on the fronts to.
I have them on the rear and it makes it look SOOO much better than them being pushed in.

I know, you could put them on the front too, but it would probably look funny. The tires would probably stick out past the fender.

BTW, I know the price of the spacers. They're not cheap. But how much do the H&R bolts go for? I'd like to do this, but bolts tend to not be cheap either. Thanks.

Yeah, i would not put them on the front eaither. But they usually are only used on the fronts for big brake kits or bigger/wider wheels.

I got my H&R 15mm spacers (price varies with size) and bolts (10) from autoclass.net for $130.00 shipped. The bolt prices may not be on their site but you can call if you need an exact price.

Why not buy H&R products from a H&R dealer, so you can get a lifetime warranty with them? Not to mention, H&R dealers are privy to information and tips direct from H&R that most others do not know.

Has anyone fitted these spacers to the 16" rear wheels on the coupe ?

If so, what size did you get - 15mm or 20mm ?
Thanks.

i put 20mm spacers on the rear and it looks pretty good- like it matches the front (i have c7.)

i paid about $130 for the rear w/ bolts as well but i think these guys are much cheaper:

pure

i would prefer the looks of a 10mm added in front and 25~30mm in the rear but- anything over 20mm for the c230 gets expensive ($150ish) because it changes to a different type of spacer to be able to handle the width safely. also, i didn't want to risk messing up the steering/handling in the front.

I've got 20mm on the rear, and it looks better. Much more aggressive and even with the front. Question though: has anyone painted their spacers black? They're a different color than the wheels, so I thought about painting them black so they looked like just part of the hub.

That's the same price every dealer sells them for. Retail is $95 for the spacers, $25-$27.50 for the lugs, and about $8 for shipping.

Spoke to the H+R agent in Sydney Australia (www.tccamotorsport.com.au) and he has quoted $242 for the spacers and bolts (which is about US $145) so I am pretty happy about that (thought he might have been more and was tempted to order direct from Europe or the states so was listening to whom you guys were recommending) but I will get them through this local shop who's pricing seems reasonable.

He only has the 15mm currently in stock though - will have to wait a bitover 2 weeks for the 20mm spacers if I want them, which I am leaning towards.
