there are not much negativse when your running spacers 5mm - 15mm... you run into issues when you run really thick spacers that are like > 1"... it causes excessive wear on your bearings...

OK this may be on the bling side, but my factory lugs are turning ugly. I Googled for lugs and found chrome lug nut covers from Prestige Wheels. They were only $40 for the set, and are due here next week. I'm getting ricer remorse on this purchase already. Any body try these? They are avalable in black as well. My wheels are stock coupe 16".

If your rims were chrome, the lugs would look good..


Black lugs would look just plain strange...

My 2 c's is to save your money and find a quality spray paint to match pretty close to the silver rim color and paint the stock lugs..

My C7 wheels were chromed and came with chrome lug nut covers. I agree that it will probably look strange to have chrome lug covers on non-chrome rims. Did you ask the wheel/tire folks at your dealer about other options that may be available for your particular set-up?

I am ordering some 15mm spacers. I just want to make sure I buy the correct bolts. Would these fit? I am getting the 55mm. 10 of them right?

Just measure one of yor stock lugs, then add on the length of the spacer you will be using. Make sure its the right lug, conical or ball seat.

The link you provided is for ball seat. Are you using stock wheels? Most AM wheels are conical and OEM is ball.

just make sure you use the lug nuts that come with the spare and not the ones that are on the originals.

I did that today and ruined the wheels. i am told it's going to be a $1,000 job!

There are no lug nuts in our cars - bolts instead. Maybe that's why you can't find them?

You beat me to it!.The nuts are usually located in the left front seat.

Lynn, I didn't get a chock and alignment pins? My Lug Bolts are in the trunk in my sedan under the wheel. They are shorter than the regular bolts on the tires.

Hi guys as i mentioned in another post, my new mags are a lot less think then my stock mags, and the bolts in the rear end up hitting the parking brake mecanism. SO before i actualy grind down my bolts, my mecanique was asking me if Volkswagen Bolts would fit... cause they are much shorter then my mercedes c230k's bolts. anybody know if they have the same thread? i think mine are currently 12mmx1.5. could someone confirm.

as long as the taper on the seat and the thread pitch is correct then yes vw bolts will work. also you need to make sure that the strength of the vw bolt can handle the loads associated with your particular wheels.

I tightened them to 75 lbs but they keep turning. Now, I can't unbolt them either. they turn in either direction with the torque on the torque wrench not going over 60lbs. What happened to them and how can I take them out?

It's a shop job to fix stripped wheel bolt threads.

Have car delivered to a repair facility.It may not be safe to drive the car with two failed wheel bolts,so you should have it flat-towed in to the shop.

Bring your wallet.Depending on what needs to be replaced, the bill may flirt with the wrong side of 1K$.

What's equally important is the condition of the bolt-hole threads in the wheel.Anything less than near-perfect is a potentially huge problem down the road.

I've always wondered why MB uses the kind of lug nuts (bolts) it uses. It seems they are easy to mess up as well as difficult to install. Is there an advantage to them as opposed to the usual setup of bolts coming out of the wheels?

Many do, most German cars use bolts.

Easy solution. Purchase a stud conversion kit for BMW. It is the same thread. Add some lock-tight, and all of our bolt size bolt striped problems are solved. I tested a set while at Turbo Performance Center getting my allignment done. They would work. And most aftermarket wheels use cone seat, so any cone seat lug nut that comes with the kit would work. I forget the exact dimensions.

EDIT- First I wrote Audi. I was wrong. We checked both the Audi and BMW studs. I had it mixed up. I just looked it up and the Audi's use 14x1.5. BMW and Mercedes use 12x1.5 wheel bolts/studs. Here is a link to a very good kit sold by Rouge Engineering. Go to the bottom of this page.
