Longer lug bolts

I've STFF and googled but I cant find longer lug bolts. I have the Gorilla style spline bolt locks cone seat but need longer ones cuz I will be adding spacers soon. The only place I found them was sfxperformance but they are a little high. Anyone know of places to order. I can find the regular 17mm hex all day but not the spline thin wall style.

Yea H&R but they provide a standard 17mm hex bolt I need the spline lock kind that goes with the 17mm thin wall socket key. I cant find a standard thin wall socket that will fit the holes on my wheels. The key I have now is only .80" in diameter. The thinnest 17mm socket I found is .93" and that's too thick.

CF Lip ripped right from it's bolts

Well tonight Fort Liquordale I was driving thru a parking lot when I encountered a deep puddle about as high as my side moldings. The pressure of the water ripped my cf lip off my bumper. The only bolts left holding it up were both sides and the two fronts. I couldn;t have gone more than 15MPH, they were speed bumps in that lot. Just a note to fellow CF Lip owners esp in South Florida, watch out for the puddles.

For those that dont know, So Fla is well known for it's drainage problems. Becuase we live in a third world state, people build things like it's a third world. I would know, my company built that shopping mall and my manager did the sitework in that area. I'll doubt he'll care but i'll mention it at the water cooler 2morro.

I'm going to bring in the lip and mount it on his wall.

that thing was on tight as u could get. It was the force of the water that slipped thru the top of lip and bottom of bumper. As soon as i got thry I could heat it scrapin'.

As soon as the frustration of spending more money to get another one wears off. I prob will. However if i paid the full 600 dollars, I wouldn't. Thanks to ebay for the cheap chinese knock offs. They're the same, RZrlp has one.

oh yea?

well i bought a eurotek one off a member, stuck 10 screws in it.

drove on the fwy for a 2 hour round trip, on the second half coming back home, doing 80mph, switching lanes....

goodbyyyyye CF lip , as i see it flying in the air taking all but one screw with it.

i was pissed!, but luckily didnt get one flat tire. good thing i only paid 150 for it. i dont think im ever gonna buy another one, b/c it would suck to see that money go down the drain again.

yap i was the first, but mine happened on the highway when i had 8 screws holding the lip up so now i have 14 screws and 2 mettle clips holding the lip up, U just have to make sure that there is no gap between the lip and the bumper. if there is a gap ur lip will evidently come off. i made sure that this lip is not going to come off. its on really really good right now.

damn! it sucks to hear that.

I'm knocking on wood that mine will stay on (scratched up and all). It's a good thing that I had mine professionally installed at Meridian where they changed the end screws to screws from a Hamann M3 lip...

well, just remember this. The AMG bumper from the front may seem high, but the actual bumper wraps a lot under. It is just as low as any other from Brabus, Lorinser and Carlsson and when you add the lip to it, you are making it really really low. PLUS wood screws are not such a good idea to put these lips on.

when I helped mig888 put the custom lip on the brabus bumper we did bolts, washers, and nuts. no wood screws. even if there are gaps the lip is tightly secured to the bumper as possible.

What about using Gorilla Glue or Contact cement with the screws?

Yeah, no kidding. The moment I stumbled on my spoiler I called up the hippo for suggestions....wood screws? Sorry, I don't see them staying on with my spirited driving =(. I believe we used 3/8" bolt/nut combination - 6 of them. My front end's pretty low, but the only thing that's contacted anything so far are the slight scrapes on the heads of the bolts.

guys, all you really need is a good screw that has a very large thread, something that will really grab onto the bumper that it is being screwed into. you dont need bolts and nuts, i mean, even those can become loose over time. I simply put about 10 screws in have no gaps, no problems, yes my first one ripped off a while ago, but that was due to a parking curb with rebar sticking out, so thats different. but if you use screws with a good thread, they will really hold the lip tight against he bumper, and you wont have any problems with air ripping it off, I have gone 120 and had no problems.

Well careful on that too - too much stress on the part and there won't be enough room for it to move...CRACK.

Fast Cars!
If installed properly the lip WILL not come off at any speed. I have tested this on every lip personally at over 130-150mph. People are making mistakes and overtighten the screws and strip the plastic holes you made on the bumper. Or people drill to large of a hole first then insert the screw and it is not tight and the threads don't catch. I have a customer in Germany who runs his C32 with a Renntech ECU upgrade and has gone about 170 he claims on the Autobahn many times and his lip is fine. If this is installed proproley the lip cannot even be ripped off.
