UHI Port - Switched Power from Centre Console
For those of you who have a UHI installed and a pre-facelift (2002-2004) W203 and access to a multimeter, I am wondering if you can do me a favour and see what the pin outs do. In particular, I am wondering about the following:
a) Is the power switched, or is it on 24/7?
b) what kind of voltages are available from the different pins?
The port is some funky proprietary 10-pin so you can't just stick in a standard RJ-45 (Ethernet) plug, it doesn't fit.
The easiest way to test would probably to stick in a UHI cable, disconnecting the UHI end, then testing the pins from there.
I am wondering if buying a cord then cutting the other end would be a real simple way to attach a non-MB phone charger inside the console.
Thanks!

Come on, can SOMEBODY please do this? ![nix](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/nixweiss.gif)
Just read on CNN that they're now making Micro-USB the UNIVERSAL cell-phone plug starting in 2010, so I am SURE people out there will want to do this thing.

^ Oh wow, someone still reads my old threads. ![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Yes it's possible. The pin outs are here. You'd just need to run some wires out from the connector to the stereo as needed. 5V USB plug
With that said, I preferred this method instead. Much cleaner, and I can switch songs very quickly. Aux in
Let us know what you decide.

Hey Yeah! your results came up in a search and important stuff just don't die! ![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
The armrest method seems complicated as you said, although i had a run at the second method sometime last year, but my Torx screwdriver was short to reach all the screws, and i ended up ditching the whole idea.![smash](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smashfreak.gif)
Now that i am back at it, was considering my options!
I once read a post with pics on how to remove the dashboard, seems to have been taken down.. guess i'll just try to remember
