7G transmission owners, please check in here.

It works guys it really works. I talked to another guy this time at Keyes European and the tech told me all about it.
The ECU reset work but you have to abuse the hell out of it so it can learn. I guess my problem was I was resetting it then going to work in traffic and it was learning to be a granny.
He said 6 good floors (pedal to the metal) should do it.
Thanks bdgdl08 because of you I still have hope.

7G-Tronic Info - PDF
Here is some info on the 7G-Tronic. It is in PDF format. The file is 17.5mb so I couldnt upload it through the forum so I uploaded it to megauploads.
Good info to read up on.

My car redlines at 6 1/4 RPM and after reset when I push 1/3 of the pedal the RPM goes to 5.
I wish someone really found a way to turn this crap off with a push of a button.
My average speed is no more than 30mpg so no wonder my car runs like crap.
I need to save up some money and play around with SDS. Also with SDS resetting Adaptations is a click of a button.

I didn't try the reset, but just took a trip down to CA. It is 600 miles each direction on the freeway. I did plenty of full throttle sprints and the transmission shifts PERFECTLY now. No harsh 4-5 upshift and it seems more responsive now.

Adaptations stink. It makes you think your transmission is bad. Remember Glyn I had a post about how I am having hard downshifts. Well it went away long time ago. The only thing I get now is when I come to a complete stop I get a jerk. But sometimes I dont. I dont think its from the gears because I get this also in Comfort mode (skips 1st gear).
There has to be a way to turn it off. Don't the new AMGs have an option to turn them off?
I wish I had money for SDS. I would have examined and used my programming skills to somehow Program S - Sport, C - Comfort and when you hit the button again it takes you to (cluster displays O) O - Off (adaptations).
Maybe I can still do this if anyone has an ECU file that I can look at.

Anyone ECU? I know the JDM guys have an opensource ECU. We should start something like this up. Anyone got an ECU file can you upload it and send it to me so I can see how it work?
Please?
Please?

I'm sure some competent person could get inside the firmware in the ECU/TCU & give us 3 fixed transmission maps. comfort, intermediate & sport? Program out the throttle lag etc etc. MB like lag. Even the aircon comes with lag built in. It all reminds me of auto mute circuits in audio.

Yeah - it wakes up slowly when you turn it on. Even the blower slowly ramps up to speed - programmed. In Auto mode things happen quickly but in standard mode it takes it's time & they all do - even the 204s

I have noticed this. I put the setting to 2 and it doesn't start I thought something was wrong till it happened a couple of times.
So do you guys happen to know someone that might have the ECU/TCU files? Maybe I can reverse engineer it and see how it operates.
With computers, No Problem but this I have never experienced it.
For sure I will probably understand if I look at a Regular ECU and a Modded one. I can write a program that will try to find the difference between them and maybe understand what they are trying to do.
But one thing that I never understood was how can you add more power and still imporve gas mileage? Or is this a marketing strategy?

See Post 3.
For those of you with jerky 2->1 downshifts, could this be an issue? Obviously not the same vehicle but the transmission is 722.9 7G. Anyway.. just stumbled upon this and wanted to toss it out there.

I was re-reading this, and I think I have the exact opposite issue. My car does not shift into first unless I come to a complete stop. If i slow down but don't stop, I am in second unless I them floor it. Dunno why.

That is exactly what mine does too, and it is how the transmission is supposed to behave. 1st gear is so darn low in these cars, I don't think you would want it to shift down while rolling.

That's what I thought, I just wanted to make sure that was normal... sometimes it's a bit annoying though, because I'll be going so slow, and then there's not power when I get on the gas. Better than a big jerk though!

Such a great feature!!! Interestingly enough, I find myself pushing it to the right more often. 7th gear @ 45mph saves fuel.

I'm happy with the performance of my 722.6 5AT. The 80 miles I drove a 2007 C230 it felt like it was shifting too often. Are you sure about the 7th gear @ 45mph thing? What seems more fuel efficient is sometimes less fuel efficient. Being in top gear all the time isn't always the answer. If we had an "Instant MPG" display you could better tell.

Time for a reality check:
Could downshifting for stops and quick slowdowns be improving the transmisison's upshifting with moderate acceleration? I quickly downshift twice with my foot lightly on the brake for city stops and quick highway slowdowns. I'm actually enjoying speeding up these days. (The brakes are wearing down, so I adapt with downshifting.)
If pedal to the metal works to reset, maybe this is working, too.

Magic in a bottle
I found magic in a bottle: 6 ounces of budget Gumout octane booster per 16 gallons of gas. The car needs 91 and all I can get is 91. Now it shifts wonderfully in average and sudden acceleration. No other actions were taken to get these results. It's going to add about 8 cents to each gallon of gas. Not bad to get a whole new car! I drove it on my two favorite canyons: one flat and not too curvy, and the other with hills and almost hair pins. I did it all in top gear unless I had a steep downhill curve.

You know that the octane booster stuff will claim like "10 points higher" or something but if you read the fine print each of their "points" equal .1 on an actual pump. So your 91 octane became 92, at best.
Not sure how this would improve ANYTHING to do with the transmission.
