Removing rear emblem? (mercedes star)

Removing rear emblem? (mercedes star)
Hey, I'm in the process of blacking out all the badges on my car. I got the C230 off, painted it and got it back on no problem... Now I'm trying to remove the Mercedes star on the back but it doesn't seem to be "taped" on like the other emblems. How do I remove it so I can paint it?

This is mentioned in quite a few threads... The rear star has fasteners that go through the metal of the trunk. I believe you have to take out the trunk lining to get to them.

The three arms of the star each have a prong very close to the center of the star. You can just wiggle them out a bit with you hand (VERY CAREFULLY), then get in a putty knife and continue, doing each prong a little before moving on to the next one. Much easier than the suggested option.
