new tires
What is the latest recommendations if I want to stick to Michelins?
1) Stay with Pilot Sports
2) Switch to PS2
3) Switch to Pilot Sports A/S Plus.
The A/S Plus option is interesting.. Much longer thread life -- 500 instead of 220. I am assuming I will sacrifice some performance but it may be worth it. What do you guys think? I live in northern california so don't really need the All Seasons.
Cost is about the same for all 3..

I have had the A/S and the A/S Plus, awesome handling, looks, and wear. They will last much longer than the PS\2's.
I have almost 15K on my set now, and the rears still have ~7/32 tread.
Be aware, that if you have a staggered tire setup, Michelin WILL NOT honor the 45K warranty. They warranty requires documented rotations every 7K miles. No big deal, as it works out the same. I am expecting ~30K out of the rear tires, and ~60-80K out of the fronts.

Sounds like the consensus is between PS2 or A/S Plus.
Anyone switched from PS1 to PS2 or A/S Plus? Curious if they noticed difference from PS1.
Also, do the A/S Plus look nice on the C230 sport setup? I always thought the PS1s gave the car a nice aggressive look.

They've got the same ride and feel as a PS2, a little less grip (but more than enough for a fun run down a twisty road), and they last quite a bit longer than the PS2s. They're also very quiet, allowing you to enjoy the drive in your MB.
I've got about 25k on this set, and still have 5-6/32nds on all tires.

What is the benefit of PE2 other than slightly lower cost? I noticed the wear is marginally better at 240 instead of 220 for PS1 and PS2. The A/S plus is much higher at 500.
So many options
