Picked up Bordeaux Red C230K on Saturday

Hey everyone, I picked up the car on Saturday and I am totally loving it so far...of course I only got to drive it home from the dealer and it's been in the garage ever since due to the snow. Anyway, can't wait to get it out and really drive. It looks beautiful, I'm so happy.

Congrats Chrissy and welcome to the club. Enjoy the new ride and post some picks in the C-Class thread above.

Edit: Also for the snow, look into some diferent tires for your new baby for replacements when you wear those ones down. Sumitomo HTR's are about $100 a piece from tirerack.com and they seem to have some good numbers(ratings) for dry, wet and especially snow. They are a High Performance All Season.

Thanks for all the responses...I will try and post some pictures as soon as I figure out how...as far as the tires, should I worry about getting them now or wait until next year?

Well, there's supposed to be another snowstorm on Monday.

If you can live without your car on snow days (or can wait until the roads are clear in the mornings), you could squeeze through the remaining snow days; otherwise, it might be worth it. The C7 tires are awful in snow.

congrats on your car. if you can completely avoid driving in snow, then just wait until next year to get new tires. winter is gonna start wrapping up soon anyway, maybe.

I have Pirelli's and I have been driving with my C7's on everyday except Sunday and Monday this week. As long as the road is somewhat plowed you should be fine as long as you drive carefully and realize to leave room to stop. I plan on getting the new tires when I need them, as I am patient and don't mind driving my Benz a little slower than the rest of the people. I was doing 90 yesterday on Interstate 83 on my way to work with no worries what so ever.

I'm a granny driver anyway, I think my top speed this morning was 45 and the roads were all clear...when it snows, I just take my sister's car or my dad's truck...probably can hold off on the all season tires for a while

Yeah Chrissy I am waiting as I can deal with driving slow once in a while. That and my wife will not go to work in the snow so I just drive the other car. Funny thing is when the weather is bad and she is at work I get the Benz all other days she has it anyway. I am waiting until I need tires to get the all seasons so I would say if you are fine with that then wait until you need new tires. As for driving slowly, you have a Benz so you are allowed to now. Every other Benz I see is going slowly so people must think I stole mine.

The C7's aren't too bad once you get moving. But the problem is getting started. So you can drive them on a pretty slippery road, as long as you don't have to stop in deep snow or on a bunch of ice. It will be hard to get going again. I had a bunch of problems last Sunday, and it was only problems with getting going. Other than that, it drove fine.

Congratulations! Your choice of color demonstrates your obvious high level of taste and intelligence. But, then again, I may be slightly biased.

For the snow, I bought winter specific Dunlop Winter Sport M2 tires. A decision that has not been regretted.

I got the 16" Dunlop winter sports on take-off alloys for around $900 at Tirerack.

As with avlis, I did a minus one conversion to 16" tires and also purchased alloy wheels from Tirerack. In the $900 range.

By themselves, the 16" tires are roughly $100 each. But a quick visit to the Tirerack website should answer any questions. The proper lug bolts were also included.

If you see me on the road now, it's the dirty car with the MB ski racks mounted on top.

Thanks for the info...hopefully I won't have to get them for a while. Just want the winter to be over with already. I want the warm weather so I can open up the roof and drive like a semi-fast demon

2003 C230 Black C7 & Snows
Thumbs up Just Made my First payment!

Welcome to the Joyz of Benz...

I've had mine for just over a month (see subject header) and I've enjoyed every single second. I'm up in Canada, and I automatically got a second set of rims and snow tires (Pilot Alpins). All I can say is: What a blast to drive!! ... Even with snow tires. I can hardly wait until the spring arrives and I can unleash my C7s.

There is an article in "Elepent Scribbles"...

http://www.elepent.com/review.php?nr=230

Which states:

"Once on the road, it's a good idea for Mercedes tyros to remember that Mercedes cars do not care how fast you are going. Period. The C230 Sports Coupe is capable of the same effortless autobahn cruising as every other Mercedes product we've tested. For drivers used to other cars, this can be a shock. Even a capable Corvette or Celica tends to accompany high speed with a certain amount of drama, if only to remind you that you're really, really exceeding the speed limit. There are no such indicators from the C230 Sports Coupe. Forty, eighty, and one hundred twenty miles per hour all feel the same. It's an amazing feat for a small car. Don't say we didn't warn you. "

I can personnaly vouch for the above. One day when I was effortlessly pulling onto the 401, I wanted to pass a few road obstacles (mostly SUVs and semis) and when I glanced at the spedometer, I was surprised at how much I was really, really exceeding the speed limit. The car was as smooth as silk, and rock solid.

I love my car.

Enjoy Yours

:p :p

The car does feel the same at 120 as it does at 60 I can vouch for that. Seems like everyone else is just driving below the speed limit and you are doing the limit. And that little 1.8 gets there effortlessly.
