Clutch for 2002 C230 Coupe
My wife has a 2002 MB C230 Coupe with the 6 speed transmission and 145,000 miles on the stock clutch. I am looking for my most economical replacement clutch for the car. Who makes them and where will I find the best price for one? Also, has anyone done this replacement on their Benz? Anything out of the ordinary with this clutch replacement?

The shocker will be the cost of the parts...I was shocked to learn the cost from folks with
manual trannies....

145,000+ miles from its OE clutch? You ought to be pleased with your wife’s technique.
Is it slipping or failing to disengage properly?
scottisha’s manual transmission is closing in on 190,000 trouble free (highway) miles.
Never went more than 50k with my (admittedly abused) GM and Ford drivetrains.
MB’s M111 Sachs/ZF-sourced clutch and pressure plate combination (#019 250 31 01) for ~$440, and throwout bearing (#000 254 25 08) at ~$210 are actually quite reasonable when amortized over their per-mile basis. Trade price will, of course, be less.
Regardless, domestic economies of scale are woefully skewed when compared with German hardware.
Include a Blanchard resurfaced flywheel as part of the job –with your labor– and it’ll likely be good to go for years to come.

Out Of Control!!
I really wish someone made a better clutch with lightweight flywheel for our cars. ![wall](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/banghead.gif)
I had mine done recently. At the dealership, the price was a bit closer to a grand. "Free" labor for me, though, as they were already ripping everything out to chase a nasty oil leak.

I thought I had read somewhere the parts were upwards of 1500...
thats not bad.
It's a lot for throwout bearing though...
ha, I remember my old toyota PU the whole shebang was about 100-150 for all the parts...

Trust me I am completely happy with her getting 100,000+ miles out of the clutch especially considering I am lucky to get 10,000 miles out of my Corvette clutches and I am used to paying $1000+ for those clutches. I am just looking for the most economical clutch because I don't intend on her having this car much longer. The clutch is engaging really high and I can tell it is on its last leg! Where is the best place to find that Sachs clutch?

Haha, yes there was track time involved! I only got 4000 miles on my stock 2005 Clutch before I removed that crap!

See if that helps, I'm not too sure about the clutch dimensions for an 02 C230 but you can compare it to the C240's to see if it will fit to expand your search.

Yeh, sorry I actually searched and couldn't find anything close to the prices quoted.
What's available for the 2002 C230 ?
