Hey guys,

So I hurt my baby last night while driving. I hit a curb pretty bad and now the alignment is all messed. The integrity of my suspension might also by messed up. Please take a look at the pictures and help me figure out as to what the potential issue could be and how much it will cost me. Also, I live in Orange County, so if you guys could recommend a shop where I could go, that would be awesome! (I know HMS is one of them)

I really can't drive the car. Once i go above 10mph, it starts to make a scraping noise. So when i do take it to a shop, I will have to get it towed unless the shop is within 10 miles from. I can drive the car up to 28mph. (HMS is about 20 miles away from me).

i was making a left turn from the 0ff ramp of 5 south onto culver drive in irvine

just saw the pics. doesn't look like an alignment issue. looks like you might have bent the shaft or bent the lateral links (7,8), tie rod (9), and/or torque arm (10).

how expensive is it to fix that? would i have to replace the parts or can it be "unbent"

take off the wheel and jack up the car to check. you should always replace bent suspension parts.

There ABSOLUTELY is an alignment issue, saying there isn't is well (and I'm sorry for being blunt), just ignorant.

At the minimum the control arm and strut are most likely bent and need to be replaced.

how is that an "alignment" issue when obviously some suspension component is bent. let me know how can you fix it with an "alignment" job.

of course he would need an alignment after replacing the parts.

No reading comprehension problems here FrankW. Bent suspension components mean there is an alignment issue. Note: I NEVER said that his problem would be cured by simply aligning it. But you shouldn't state misleading information.



Sure looks like an alignment issue to me. Meaning replace the damaged parts, and re-align the vehicle.

The guy is just nitpicking. It technically has an alignment issue due to bent suspension components. Either way, all of that damage will buff right out.

good attempt at trying to save face.

wheel alignment is the relation between camber, caster, and toe to reduce tire wear. something you can adjust WITHOUT replacing parts.

with the wheel position obviously bent out of wack you don't call that an alignment issue since he will need to replace multiple parts.

I need no 'attempt' to save face. I'm quite familiar with alignments, alignment specs, and how to correct it, so save the education for someone that needs it, I don't.

Having suspension parts that need replacing (be they bent or loose) is grounds for an alignment issue. So with this case that the wheel's position is quite obviously 'out of wack' you not only have an actual alignment issue, but problem suspension parts that need be replaced.

so any recommendations as to where i can take the car now? like i said, if u guys know anything in irvine, that would be best because i can just drive slowly and get there. otherwise ima have to get it towed on a flatbed sigh!

if the axle is bent I would not drive on it. I would suggest look for a local MB specialist or a mechanical shop you trust to take a look at it and see what needs to be replaced.

Not an alignment issue as frank stated. Check your local places to see if anyone is MB certified. I'd get teh car checked out first just to see whats wrong with it before jumping to conclusions though.

Take it to Serge/Hyevon Motors next to HMS. He is an MB tech and can get your car back to normal
