Smartkey Starter now available for W203

and they never answered my question about range, so my guess is it's limited to the short distance that the factory key provides. on my other cars, i can start the car from my desk at work and have the car warm/cool by the time i get to the parking lot.

I got it installed almost a year ago for $900 and range can very depending on where you are at.
It usually ranges from 100 feet to 200 feet for me. The signal is not strong enough to go through the thicker office walls. I can get my car started from the back of my home with no problems.
Viper created a module that you can attach to the SmartStarter for an extra $300. It will allow you to start your car from anywhere with an app that you can download to your iPhone, Droid, or BB... But, there is a $30 annual fee.

I really like it; it has become a convenience for me. I get up late for work and the last thing I want to do it wait for my car to warm up, especially during winter when I need to defrost the windows. I used to start the car up and leave the key inside, locking it with the valet... Unfortunately, my neighborhood has really gone under and people are really shady around here.
I also park my car out in the sun all day at work. All I have to do is step out front hit my panic button to start it up, go back and wrap things up and leave without having to air-out the car.
The must have is the keyless go option. I'd just like to get in, hit a button and drive off. Going to get that one soon.
