Trying to Decide which Magnaflow Muffler

Hey all,

I am trying to decide between 2 magnaflow universal mufflers that come with the tips.

I am debating between the:

14815 which has dual 3'' tips
http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/s...e=main&id=8140

and

14816 which has 3.5'' tips
http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/s...e=main&id=8141

Both are virtually identical except for the tip outlet size, I am just not sure if the 3.5'' will look to big and I don't want to have to cut the exhaust opening to much.

I am curious to know how big the Eisenmann tips are as I like how they look on the coupe.

Thanks for any input

white and whiter
go with the first one.

3.5" = 90mm = too big.

i have 80mm tips on mine. you check my thread in the sig for pics.

eisenmann tips are typically 83mm.

Hank, do the tips exit below the bumper/valance or do you have to cut it out? Yours looks like it's underneath.

hey. i have the 14830 on my m271. people say it sounds just right. i personally think mine sounds ricey. lol. but seems like your picking the style of tips. ADVICE: get the double tipped. i think thats what they call it. (thicker tips) my 14830 turned yellowish almost in an instant coz of the heat. up to you.

Do you have pics of it on your car? Did you end up installing it? If so how does it sound on the 230? I just don't want it to sound to ricey, I just want a little more growl than stock?

ummm...why would you want to decrease the diameter size of your original 2.75" to a 2.25" ??

Hey Dom,

This is not my car so I don't know anymore than what you can see in the vids. I do like the sound in the vids very much though.

Well it is a universal muffler and is the best affordable option for exhaust, I would think that it should be ok to do.

Bought the Magnaflow 14815 on Ebay for 140 shipped with no tax, came next day brand new in box was shipped from Magnaflow directly. This is a great deal as it is usually around 180 or 190

Can't wait to put have it put on tomorrow, will post some pics later of muffler.

Edit:

Had it put on today, boy was it tuff, the muffler was pretty big on the dumb coupe, so the shop had to do a lot of work to get it.

But it turned out just right and perfect, exactly what I wanted and sounds great. Here are some pics, hard to see since it is so sunny here in So Cal and I literally just got it done. Will post some sound clips/vid hopefully later once it cools down.

Posted pics, just now below, so the install was pretty hard to squeeze a 14'' universal muffler into the coupe's exhaust area, but it got done in the end and turned out pretty good I think. It has a pretty deep and beefy sound and I did not remove the resonator, I hope is stays like this.

Will post sound clip later and some more pics.

I have the same exhaust but I had them install it upside down so the magnaflow etching wasnt showing and it was just all chrome. I love the exhaust note it puts out with my res delete.

It fits my sedan just fine. Just need some custom pipes bent and the install is quick and painless.

magnaflow 14815 fitment?

Reviving kinda old thread here since i do't want to make a new thread. I've been doing some research the past couple days on a new muffler install. I think I've decided on the magnaflow 14815 with the 3" dual tips. I'm really liking the exhaust note it puts out from the vids/sound clips I've found. I'm getting it at a pretty good deal for $169.00 brand new, but have a question regarding the fitment. Am i going to have to do some kind of modification to the bumper area (cut out a portion of it) so it sits properly? Here's a pic of my rear bumper. [IMG][/IMG]

It looks like you might. The tips arent curved like they are on your current muffler

no, cutting is not required to the bumper. but if u dont mind spending the money then do it. it definitely looks more flush without the muffler having to droop down a little. any custom shop shouldnt take more than an hr to cut, weld and create a custom hanger for u.
