Any idea?.....

on how to get a hold of a driver's side hood/right fender rubber seal that runs from the front of the hood to the firewall (p/n 203-880-09-97). It is the seal that keeps water from running down the seam between the hood and the side quarter panel. Apparently it is not made anymore!

If any of you folks know of a place that might have parts from several years back, please post it here. Thanks much. Part is for a 2004 C320.

I suppose maybe I could start contacting salvage yards in hopes of getting lucky.

According to the dealer, when they were available they were $30.

I suggest you find yourself a new dealership!

ALL PARTS should be available for ANY car for at least 10 years after the car was made,... that's the law.

I concur with acr2001,.... getMercedesparts.com ie: trademotion.com is about 25% off MSRP
MSRP: $19.50 Price: $14.62 plus about $8 to ship UPS ground

Thanks alot acr2001. You da man.

Yeah, sunny, my dealer in KC (Mercedes Benz of KC) has been both good and bad. The good was they fixed a few things correctly early on. But in the last several years things haven't been so good.

First, one of the guys that washes the cars and drives the cars out of the service area drove my car into the side of a protective yellow post at the exit of the area. And the worse thing is no one said anything. I was at a wedding and my wife said it looked like I hit something so I walked around and there was this wide nasty yellow paint scraped on the front bumper right in front of the wheel. I took it to them and the service manager, who seems like a really nice guy but likely isn't aware what's happening behind the scenes, brought out some chemicals and wiped the yellow paint off. The yellow paint was gone but there are still scrapes left on the original paint. He said that there is someone who routinely fixed paint issues like that and they would fix it for free which is cool other than the fact that I took the car in to make it better not worse. I still have the scrapes as I'm not sure I want them to fix it as I'm sort of afraid that something may end up worse.

Then I went in for an annoying knocking in the driver's door that occurred when the car was idling a good portion of the time. First they said they didn't hear it. Then I took it back and lightly bumped the internal door handle a few times and a different manager said Oh I hear it. So, I left the car with them and when I got it back, the driver's door was fixed but the passenger polished wood door insert had a crack in it that I know 100% was not there. Upon telling the manager that the repeat time I took it in, he just said that there would be no reason for that to happen. My guess is there was some sort of confusion on the paper work end and the mechanic took the door panel off the wrong side and when he put it back he cracked the wood piece. Or the dude had or knew of someone who had a similar car that had a cracked piece that needed replacement. Don't know. That's the trouble with having a dealer where the repair shop doesn't have windows where one can sit and watch what goes on. So to this day I have an area of scraped paint and a crack (not super noticeable but can be seen easily when the light reflects off of it) in one of my door wood trim pieces.

And finally, I had cut out some nice gray fabric that I was going to attach to the bottom of each door's compartment area as a soft cover for the original plastic bottom. I had them laying in place in each door's compartment (which to take out would have required at least a little effort as the compartment areas are fairly deep) but they hadn't been attached down yet with removable adhesive. When I got home, one of them was gone. When I called back to the dealer after I got home to tell them that I was missing one of them, I got the same answer: there would be no reason for that sort of thing to have taken place and basically telling me I was wrong. I ended up buying more fabric and luckily the hard part was done already getting the right template so I just made another one from the first one (upside down) and now they are attached.

Anyway, I really am not sure whether to believe anything they say in the future bout a problem I might have.

As for the seal part in the subject, the parts guy showed me the screen that said no longer being made. I ask him what happens then if someone gets in a crash and has to have such a part. He replied that it comes with the fender as an assembly. That is one expensive part now!

Thanks again for the info. I ordered the part. I'll reply when I get it.

I forgot to say that the professionalism the dealer possessed in my early service visits was really good. I want to be fair.

THE C350
sounds like you need a new dealer. the wood might not be the dealers fault my dads e320 cdi was sitting in the warm garage one day. i then took it out to go shopping when it was like 20 degrees fahrenheit. i parked the car in the parking lot for about three hours and found a huge crack in the wood when i returned. i know that it was not their when i got out of the car. i was near a Mercedes dealership and they told me that it was a very common problem in winter and i was luck enough they had the exact part in stock and replaced it under warranty immediately. which saved me from having to tell my dad i broke his car. but still sounds like you need a new dealership i had my "OLD" dealer ship back my car into something and cracked the very bottom of the bumper. they spent $800 fixing it and three months later the paint pealed off right where the crack was. i have not gone back to that dealer and still cant believe that the body shop they took it to charged that much to fix it so badly.

Well it turns out that that part is indeed not available and the note that apparently comes up on the description says the part is not required or needed and if it needs to be replaced to just take the one off the other side (I guess to even out the appearance)!!

Also the part had a previous part number. But neither are available. I'm not sure why MB wouldn't make or have stock in that type of part. Any other ideas. I suppose I could keep contacting salvage yards in hopes of someday they have totaled one (from the rear or opposite side).

If anyone else has any other ideas please post. Not really a big thing but if someone happens to know of a part somewhere I'd be appreciative.
