2005 C230 Kompressor Sedan
Buying a 2005 C230K, what do you think!

Hi i'm new to the MB world and i'm looking to buy a:

*2005 MB C230 Kompressor Sedan 4 door
*Diamond Black
*17" stock rims
*Sunroof, Harmon Kardon stereo, DVD navigation and the usual stuff
*Has 56,700 miles

Cost = $13,500 in california

What do you think... is this a good price for the year, mileage???

What should i expect service wise or should I look for maintenance wise at 56,700 miles.

Service A was performed at 53,000 i believe... somewhere round there....

Thanks for the help ya'll.... looking forward to hearing all of your thoughts..

Sorry these are all the pictures i have

Peace

price on 2005 C230

I think that is a very good price. I obviously overpaid! I bought out my 2005 C230 lease in Feb for $17,000! I did get CPO, but I didn't have Harmon Kardon or Navigation. I would just read the forum for potential issues on the 1.8L M271 engine and have the car checked out before you buy it.

Thanks for the input... engine checks out and is good... i thought it was a good price but was weiry on the mileage.. plus at 57,000 miles not sure what maintenance is lurking in my near future. How many miles you got on your MB. I figure your the 1st owner.

i was in the same scenario as you last year but i ended getting the car. i have about the same options are yours except the navigation. mileage wise it seems pretty good. the facelift w203 are solid built cars and mercedes got most of the bugs out. just have it check by a really trusted mechanic and if every goes well. go get it.~
check the alignment and the tires as well.

by the way i got a white one.

I agree. Buy it. I have 59,400 on mine and love it. It's been rock-solid reliable.

LOL...service interval is set at 10-12k miles. He said the car only had service A done at 54k and now only 3k miles later.

Service intervals on the 2005 cars = 13,000 miles or 1 year. If the car called for Service A at 53000 he won't need Service B till 66000.

Then someone changed your intervals with STAR. From the factory, according to my manual and all related literature, the interval is 13,000 miles or 1 year.

I probably would not get it unless it is a CPO and has a bumper to bumper warranty. Mine has numerous isssues at 61000 miles

Okay. I have 59,600 without any issues. Other than the fact you're pissed at your car right now, I fail to see what makes your problematic car more relevant than my trouble-free one.

I'll say it again - In general, the 2005-2007 C-class has proven to be a pretty reliable choice for many. The chances of you having a problem with a late year C-class are probably greater than that of a Honda, but then again - the C-class doesn't look, drive, or ride like a Honda.

Why do people on these boards always put down Honda's? I think they are very nice cars. I have owned several and never once had an issue. Plus they perform well and you get great gas mileage out of them.

Anyway, to the OP, I would say go for it. I got my 06 230SS about 4 weeks ago and like it. I did pay considerable more then you are paying but it also only had like 23,500 miles or so and I added a 2 year warranty ontop of the 1 year CPO plus whatever remains of the factory warranty (11 months I think) so in total I got close to 4 years of warranty. Mine has the 2.5l v6 which I think is pretty underpowered but it is entry level so I wasn't expecting a high performance vehicle anyways.

I got mine in white and I too get a lot of compliments on it even though its in its stock form. I'm sure you will like it, just keep it clean - black is hard to keep clean.

Good luck.

Yeah I got a 2yr extended warranty when I got my car... I bought mine from a honda dealership so i actually have full warranty coverage that honda gives so they pay for everything except normal maintenance fluid changes ie oil, brake fluid, radiator fluid... nice thing about it is that if I put aftermarket parts on it the dealership doesnt hassle me about it since they're charging honda for the work so they dont care

Stating that a Mercedes C-class doesn't drive, look, or ride like a Honda is a put-down? Not so. It's stating a fact.

Having owned Accords (years 1993, 1999, 2001, 2003, and 2005), a 2007 Civic Si, and a 2002 Acura TL - I am VERY familiar with the brand. Aside from the 2002 Acura - in which everything that could break did and it spent more time at the dealer than at my house - the Honda products were all solid.

A Mercedes, however, they were not. Fact. Not a put down.

My 2002 Poniac was trouble free with zero warranty issues in 40000 miles befor I got the Benz. That is even after modifying the suspension, brakes, cam, headers, valvetrain, ecu....

I must have had at least a dozen issues with my Benz while it was under warranty. Now that the warranty has been expired, I had to replace the ac compressor, and now have to replace the belt tensioner, and maybe the head due to the oil issues with the plugs (from searching previous threads concerning said issue), as well as a couple of other things.

I should have purchased the extended warranty....

What's the build date on your car? You shouldn't have the head issue.

The car has a CPO warranty for another 4 months. Sux... so if i get an extended warranty, do i just go into any MB dealer and get it...

also... what warranty do ya'll recommend getting ie, the most cost effective one... i'm sure there are a whole lotta different ones to choose from

and, MAVERICK... how much you pay for 3 years or 100k miles... Powertrain only??

Thanks
