Buying a 2005 C230K, what do you think!
Hi i'm new to the MB world and i'm looking to buy a:
*2005 MB C230 Kompressor Sedan 4 door
*Diamond Black
*17" stock rims
*Sunroof, Harmon Kardon stereo, DVD navigation and the usual stuff
*Has 56,700 miles
Cost = $13,500 in california
What do you think... is this a good price for the year, mileage???
What should i expect service wise or should I look for maintenance wise at 56,700 miles.
Service A was performed at 53,000 i believe... somewhere round there....
Thanks for the help ya'll.... looking forward to hearing all of your thoughts..
Sorry these are all the pictures i have
Peace

price on 2005 C230
I think that is a very good price. I obviously overpaid! I bought out my 2005 C230 lease in Feb for $17,000! I did get CPO, but I didn't have Harmon Kardon or Navigation. I would just read the forum for potential issues on the 1.8L M271 engine and have the car checked out before you buy it.

Then someone changed your intervals with STAR. From the factory, according to my manual and all related literature, the interval is 13,000 miles or 1 year.

I probably would not get it unless it is a CPO and has a bumper to bumper warranty. Mine has numerous isssues at 61000 miles

I'll say it again - In general, the 2005-2007 C-class has proven to be a pretty reliable choice for many. The chances of you having a problem with a late year C-class are probably greater than that of a Honda, but then again - the C-class doesn't look, drive, or ride like a Honda.

Why do people on these boards always put down Honda's? I think they are very nice cars. I have owned several and never once had an issue. Plus they perform well and you get great gas mileage out of them.
Anyway, to the OP, I would say go for it. I got my 06 230SS about 4 weeks ago and like it. I did pay considerable more then you are paying but it also only had like 23,500 miles or so and I added a 2 year warranty ontop of the 1 year CPO plus whatever remains of the factory warranty (11 months I think) so in total I got close to 4 years of warranty. Mine has the 2.5l v6 which I think is pretty underpowered but it is entry level so I wasn't expecting a high performance vehicle anyways.
I got mine in white and I too get a lot of compliments on it even though its in its stock form. I'm sure you will like it, just keep it clean - black is hard to keep clean.
Good luck.

Yeah I got a 2yr extended warranty when I got my car... I bought mine from a honda dealership so i actually have full warranty coverage that honda gives so they pay for everything except normal maintenance fluid changes ie oil, brake fluid, radiator fluid... nice thing about it is that if I put aftermarket parts on it the dealership doesnt hassle me about it since they're charging honda for the work so they dont care

Having owned Accords (years 1993, 1999, 2001, 2003, and 2005), a 2007 Civic Si, and a 2002 Acura TL - I am VERY familiar with the brand. Aside from the 2002 Acura - in which everything that could break did and it spent more time at the dealer than at my house - the Honda products were all solid.
A Mercedes, however, they were not. Fact. Not a put down.

My 2002 Poniac was trouble free with zero warranty issues in 40000 miles befor I got the Benz. That is even after modifying the suspension, brakes, cam, headers, valvetrain, ecu....
I must have had at least a dozen issues with my Benz while it was under warranty. Now that the warranty has been expired, I had to replace the ac compressor, and now have to replace the belt tensioner, and maybe the head due to the oil issues with the plugs (from searching previous threads concerning said issue), as well as a couple of other things.
I should have purchased the extended warranty....
