not sure what's wrong, help!

the rear of my car seems to be pulling to the left. i just noticed this about a week ago, but when i'm on the freeway at high speeds my car doesn't feel stable anymore. the car seems to be pulling to the left. i have 18inch rims and have about 15k miles on them. i know my alignments been off since i but on my rims about a year ago, and i haven't balanced my tires yet. i took my car to the dealer and they recommend i align the car and balance the tires. i'm wondering if anything else could be wrong with it? or is it that i just haven't balanced my tires in a long time.

weren't your tires balanced when they were first mounted on the rims? This is part of the mounting process, or at least it is supposed to be. If you have any weights on the wheels, then they have been balanced. Since you have 18" rims, you probably have the stick on type weights that are on the inside of the wheel. If you have some on there, then it has been balanced, but it could still be off.

well i balanced 15k miles ago, when i first got rims. not sure how often you need to balance rims. and there is plenty of tread left and it's wearing proportionately.

Occasionally, the weights fall (or are knocked) off.

Could be the problem, although I think this would give you a vibration as opposed to a pull. A pull seems to indicate the car is somehow out of alignment.

Trench is right, if you have no vibration, you probably only need an alignment. Although if it is cheap enough, it wouldn't hurt to rebalance the tires.
