2003 C230 Sport Coupe
Huge thanks
Just got this car a few days ago and knew that MP3, XM radio was a must. Big thanks to Crytnotic and Lovin_my_C230K for the walk through. Took less than an hour and the result is absolutely awesome! I just hope that someday I can repay the generosity. I just moved the cat5 connecter out of the way and put the mini jack through the hole. Looks clean enough to me and works like a charm.

help needed
I decided to try the hard wired aux cable method because the cassette adapter I've been using for my ipod kept giving me the tape stuck message and ejecting.
Anyways...
I got as far as disconnecting the radio and realized that I forgot to leave a tape in the player. I reconnected the radio and it won't turn on. I tried reconnecting all the plugs in the consol and radio still won't turn on.
Worse than that I now have an SRS message. I did tripple check all the cables. they are in the correct spots and tight.
Any ideas besides taking the car to the dealer?

wiring diagram
I've been thinking about my car's sitution . . . no audio and a message to see the dealer about the SRS system.
1. I think that I might have pulled to hard on one or more audio cables when I removed the radio. Does anyone know what the connectors on the back of the '02 cassette radio are for? I haven't been able to find a wiring diagram. Also how does the radio connect to the DB2 ring? Is that what the fiber optic cable? I'd love to be able to get the radio to power up and be able to listen to music.
2. Could the SRS message be left over from powering the system without the center consol's top row of buttons connected? If so how do I reset the error code?

Just wanted to say that i just completed this mod an am very happy with it. I couldn't have done it with out what i found here on mbworld. I recommend it to all of my fellow pre MY05 people who want a clean ipod/mp3/aux input. The hardest part was the soldering and that was because my soldering iron was too large for this kind of job.

I downgraded to a VW, it's still German though
Perhaps this shows my technically impaired (or technically practical) thinking (I'm an EE) and might be tacky as all hell, but why not use one of those old adapters that is like a cassette with a jack on one end? They used to come with CD players, if you remember what those are. That way I don't have to remove my radio, and my car stays in factory condition. It's not ballin', nor is it the most MaGayver type of thing, but it works. I use this setup for my MP3 player and iPod. I get no distortion, and no problems. Anything is better than a modulator.

Does anyone still have pics for the audio 30? the only pics i could find were on another thread and were different. Can i just put the wires to pins 1 and 3 and desolder the ribbon? I can put the pics up if someone can email me. jafromwi at yahoo.com. thanks in advance

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I tried to do this without the pictures and missed something. Does anyone have the pictures from this mod? Or at least a picture of a modified circuit board? That is all I really need.
