Nowhere ...Fast
it very simple to do what has been suggested here...but if you never done it, not even on the benz...if you never replaced the spark plugs, then that might be a task...
sorry that it happened to you, but its no going to be a loss

Bent Connecting Rod
Could this have happened just by trying to start the car just one time. ????
so my repair guy said that waht they usually do is they are contracted with big ol wrecker companys and they can source a similiarly used engine
assuming the insurance agrees
what do u guys think. i have no idea ... any advice
much thanks to all

A used engine will likely be considerably less than a rebuild.
Additionally, you don't know if there's any other damage until you get the conn. rod fixed. If they find a second one bent after they get done rebuilding it, you'll end up paying even more.

This whole job depends on the condition of the block & what your insurers will pay for. If the block is in good condition & the Alusil cylinder bores are fine then I would stick to the engine you know & try & get it properly rebuilt if insurance will pay. If the block is damaged then it's a secondhand engine you are going to require. A new block is prohibitively expensive.

2005 C Wagon (No snickering please!)
Pres. Obama was on TV today claiming he could change a spark plug. I bet he would be suprised to see 12 plugs on this twin-spark V6. And wouldn't he be suprised to find out you need a special socket to remove the rear plugs. But he is only the President, what could he know, anyhow?
If you have insurance that covers this type of accident it should cover a new engine. Or the very least a reman. I would not be happy with a used engine. You need to consider warranty also. What will the shop do for you? As for rebuilding your engine, that might be possible, but I would want a rebuiler that does it all day every day, not just once in a while.

well see thats teh issue, does anyone know any engine rebuilders in ft lauderdale/davie/plantation area
the shop i have it at , ultimate euro repairs, is where ive always taken it for A,B services, and everythiung has been done well, never overcharged, always honest, as far as i can see.
my gut feeling says have them rebuild it, but obviously i dont now all the details of the damage....
i did have the 7yr exd 100K mile warrenty on the car purchased when it was new from MB. Will or can that have any play in my situation
apparently the AAA man will come out and look at the car on wednesday. I wont be there, as i am away for the week.
whats more lucrative /price effective for the shop, rebuilding or swapping.
I would think rebuilding cuz of labor hours the charge...
when speaking with my repair guy he mentioned LKQ , a corporation that sells used parts that are pulled. ANd that an engine could come from there...
thats teh update..

seem s that i willbe getting a used engine
spoke with the shop and they discussed with the adjuster about engine swap
they said engine rebuild would not make any financial sense. essentially too expensive for the insurance to pay for
DO i have any say in this. I mean do i get to speak with the adjuster to make a choice
they said they will talk with me tommorow

Try & get a low mileage used engine & demand a reasonable warranty on the replacement.
They are going to have to get the ECU with that new engine because the ECU & engine are VIN matched.
This can be overcome with adaption but it's far from just plug & play but not insurmountable. My only reservation with used engines is that you have no idea what condition they are in without stripping them down which defeats the object.

yeah i agree and understand. i dont know what i can do though.
my shop guy said he found one with 19K on it but it cost 3700$
he said the adjuster seemed reasonable.
I havent gotten a call from the adjuster at all.
the shop said that for the most part, there will be new parts purchased, but basically from the used engine they will use the block.
