Tunnel Mode roof

Tunnel Mode
I have a 2002 c230k coupe with stock analog climate control... when i hit the recirc button the windows close but not the sunroof... same with opening.. is there a way to syncronize it so the roof will open and close also. Does any have a 2002 with analog controls and the roof is functional in tunnel mode?

First:

No it wont work. The tunnel mode doesnt work on 2002 Coupes. I it will close the woindows but not the sunroof.

This issue has been discussed many times before though. There are more people who know more about this than i do.

If your windows are open, press and hold the recirculate button - it will close both windows. Then you can do the same thing to return the windows to their former position. Neat.

I think all that is required is a change in the software setting to enable tunnel mode with the sunroof. It appears that in the US it has been disabled in all coupes maybe for safety reasons...who knows...but I don't think anyone in the US has asked or successfully persuaded their dealer to enable it...the dealer probably wouldn't know how anyway.

I'm not sure if it is a function of the climate control type, but I know my C32 has it for windows and sunroof.

Guys, as someone said, we've had several discussions on this topic. The coupes and sedans have this feature, regardless of type of climate control -- digital or analog. It is access via the recirculate button. The reason the coupe roof does not close with this feature is that the coupes lack the "one touch close" feature. In the sedans, you press the sunroof close button past the initial detent and it closes even when you let go of the switch -- just like the side windows. The tunnel mode feature works by activating the windows' and roof's one touch close circuit.

The only reason I've come up with the lack of one touch close for the coupe roof is the shade issue. Perhaps they couldn't decide whether the shades should close via one touch, or just stop after the glass closes -- your guess is as good as mine. I don't see a safety factor specific to the coupe when the sedan has the feature for its sunroof.

Not true (sorry :o ) . It will work on 2002 Coupes. The dealer can fix it (some programming if I'm not mistaken). My dealer fixed it for me once I noticed it would not work....

are u sure about that? it appears - and this has also been mentioned before in other threads - that the moonroof on coupes (which do not have one touch) can still close using the recirc button. apparently (and this is just my humble opinion) one touch has nothing to do with whether the moonroof can close in tunnel mode.

Now that I read that some coupe owners have had this "fixed" even on their '02s maybe I made a bad assumption. But also, I'm wondering if it's just the switch that can't access "one touch close" but by enabling something the tunnel mode can. Oh well, we need a techie to be sure...
